Arizona State vs Florida A&M 12/21/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Florida A&M Rattlers and the Arizona State Sun Devils meet Tuesday in college basketball action from ASU Wells Fargo Arena. Florida A&M is 2-9 so far this year. The Rattlers are coming off a loss to UC Santa Barbara. As for Arizona State, they’re 5-7 on the season and lost to San Francisco in their last appearance. Florida A&M started out on a 2-4 clip this year, beating LeMoyne-Owen and Fort Valley State along the way. The Rattlers have since lost five straight games to Florida Gulf Coast, Akron, Cincinnati, Santa Clara and UC Santa Barbara. 

In the UCSB matchup on Sunday, the Rattlers were outscored 41-23 in the first half on the way to a 73-62 defeat. Both MJ Randolph and Jalen Speer led the team with 16 points, combining for nine assists and eight rebounds. 

Over on the Arizona State side, they went 2-6 over their first eight with losses to UC Riverside, San Diego State, Baylor, Syracuse, Loyola IL and Washington State. The Sun Devils then beat Oregon, Grand Canyon and Creighton before a loss to San Francisco. 

Matched up against San Francisco on Sunday, the Sun Devils were down 36-34 at the break. Arizona State scored 31 points from there but still fell 66-65 in a tough one. Jay Heath (18 points; 12 rebounds) and Kimani Lawrence (18 points; 10 rebounds) each doubled up. 

The Sun Devils are 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 at home and 11-29-2 ATS in their last 42 overall. Arizona State is 3-0-1 ATS in their last four after an ATS win. 

Meanwhile, the Rattlers are 6-2 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games. Florida A&M is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games.

PICK: I’m probably sticking with Arizona State. The Sun Devils are coming off a tricky game against a very good San Francisco team. AZ State managed 46 rebounds, but also shot a tepid 38 percent from the field with just 6-of-24 (25 percent) from 3-point range and 5-of-11 (45.5 percent) from the line. 

As for Florida A&M, they’ve been in the scoring doldrums lately with 66 or fewer points in each of their last five. If Arizona State gets going early in this one I doubt the Rattlers will be able to match the pace.
