Lehigh went just 1-10 over their first 11 games, losing to Rutgers, NJIT, Monmouth, Merrimack, Virginia, St. Francis PA, Yale, MD Eastern Shore, Albany and Maryland. Since then it’s been three straight wins over Eastern, American and Colgate.
In the Colgate game, the Mountain Hawks scored 44 points in the first half and 41 more from there in an 85-81 win. Leading scorer Keigh Higgins put up 23 points with five rebounds, and Nic Lynch doubled up on 11 points and 10 boards.
Over on the Army side, they went 6-4 over their first 10 games with losses to Duke, La Salle, Siena and Air Force. Next came losses to LIU and South Carolina before two more wins over Loyola MD and Bucknell.
Matched up against Bucknell on Tuesday, Army held a one-point lead at the break. The Black Knights managed a 46-40 second half in a 96-89 win. Jalen Rucker topped the team on 21 points, and Aaron Duhart added 20 points with five assists.
The Knights are 4-1 ATS in their last five at home and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six Friday games. The over is 4-0 in Army’s last four overall.
Meanwhile, the Mountain Hawks are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 1-4 ATS in the last five after an ATS win. Lehigh is 6-2 ATS in their last eight Friday games.
PICK: I’m going to try Army in this one. The Knights have had their share of offensive duds this year, but over the last few games they’ve been scoring better. Army has hit 75 or more points in each of their last three outings and should be able to keep that going here. As for Lehigh, they’ve hit 70 or more in two of the last three themselves. Should be an interesting matchup but I like Army better on the cover.
