The LSU Tigers and the Auburn Tigers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Auburn Arena. LSU is sitting at 10-5 this year so far and coming off a win over Vanderbilt (their fourth victory in a row). As for Auburn, they’ve won eight straight at 13-2 overall and took out Texas A&M on Tuesday. Let’s get into our LSU vs. Auburn prediction. LSU Tigers

The Tigers posted a sketchy 6-5 run over their first 11 games of the season. The wins in that time were versus MS Valley State, North Texas, Wake Forest, North Florida, SE Louisiana and Alabama State. Since then it’s been wins over Lamar, Northwestern State, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.

In the Vanderbilt matchup on Tuesday, LSU held a slim 30-28 edge in the locker room. The Tigers hit a 47-41 run in the second half to secure a 77-69 victory. Tops in scoring was Jalen Cook with his 28 points, four rebounds and one assist. Jordan Wright added 15 points and four rebounds as well.

Auburn Tigers

Over on the Auburn side, they lost only two of their first seven games this year, falling to Baylor in the opener and App State on December 3. It’s been wins over Indiana, UNC Asheville, USC, Alabama State, Chattanooga, Pennsylvania, Arkansas and Texas A&M in the last eight since then.

On Tuesday versus Texas A&M, Auburn went into the second half with a 30-22 edge. The Tigers finished the game on a 36-33 run and powered out the victory 66-55. Jaylin Williams led the way on 22 points with eight boards, while KD Johnson added 14 points in 21 minutes off the bench.

ANDREW’S FREE LSU VS AUBURN PREDICTION

I’ll stay with Auburn. The Tigers are rolling along quite nicely right now and they didn’t have too many issues with a decent Texas A&M team on Tuesday. Auburn held the Aggies to just 29 percent shooting from the field and 15.8 percent from 3-point range in the victory, but did get out-rebounded 44-34. It was a nice defensive effort, though; Auburn has given up just 106 combined points in their last pair.

As for LSU, they’re scoring well lately with 68 or more points in six straight games—and 74 or more in five of those. I could see LSU scoring well (and potentially covering) on Saturday if all goes well; they did notch 85 points against Texas in their latest loss. That said, with Auburn playing great defense right now I’m not sure LSU will quite get there.
