The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils and the Baylor Bears meet Friday in college basketball action from Ferrell Center. Mississippi Valley State is struggling this year, winless through 11 games. The Delta Devils fell to Tulsa in their last matchup. As for Baylor, they’re fresh off a Wednesday matchup versus Duke. MS Valley State Delta Devils 

The Delta Devils have had zero luck in the win column throughout their first 11 games this year. So far, the losses have come versus LSU, Oklahoma, UConn, TCU, Santa Clara, CSU Northridge, Pacific, North Texas, Liberty, Gonzaga and Tulsa in succession. 

In the matchup versus the Hurricane on Tuesday, the Delta Devils were drilled in the first half 40-24. Mississippi Valley State didn’t get any closer than that on a 39-26 run in the second and lost 79-50. Tops in scoring was Arecko Gipson with 19 points and eight rebounds. Rayquan Brown added 17 points with six boards as well. 

Baylor Bears

Over on the Baylor side, they managed to win their first nine games this year. The Bears took out Auburn, John Brown, Gardner-Webb, Kansas City, Oregon State, Florida, Nicholls, Northwestern State and Seton Hall in that time. Game 10 was Baylor’s first loss, 88-64 versus Michigan State. 

On Wednesday versus Duke, the Bears were within two points at halftime but didn’t end up getting closer on a 44-38 deficit from there in a 78-70 defeat. Leading the team in scoring was RayJ Dennis with 17 points, while Yves Missi doubled up on 11 points and 10 rebounds. Ja’Kobe Walter chipped in 15 points as well. 

ANDREW’S FREE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE VS BAYLOR PREDICTION 

I’m staying with Baylor. Probably not touching this one, though. The line is going to be pretty crazy just about everywhere. The Bears scored 77 or more points in all nine games during their opening win streak, and shouldn’t have any issues hanging a ton of scoring on the Delta Devils. Mississippi Valley State has given up 68 or more points in every outing so far, while only scoring a max of 65 points (once in overtime) themselves. Friday’s game is not going to be close by any stretch; the only question is the margin of victory. I think Baylor will get there, but the line’s too thick to mess with.
