Chattanooga vs UNC Greensboro Prediction Basketball Picks 1-13-24

The UNC Greensboro Spartans and the Chattanooga Mocs meet Saturday in college basketball action from McKenzie Arena. UNC Greensboro is fresh off a Thursday matchup with Samford. In that one the 11-5 Spartans took a nine-point loss. As for Chattanooga, they played VMI in their Thursday game. The Mocs ended up winning that game in blowout fashion to move to 10-6 overall in the Southern Conference standings. Let’s get into our UNC Greensboro vs. Chattanooga prediction. UNC Greensboro Spartans

The Spartans got off to a great start this year at 8-1 overall. The only blemish in that time came versus Vanderbilt in game two. UNC Greensboro went a tepid 3-3 over the next six though, losing to Marshall, High Point and Texas with wins over Virginia-Lynchburg, Furman and East Tennessee State otherwise.

On Thursday versus Samford, the Spartans were outscored 40-27 in the first half. UNC Greensboro recovered with 43 second-half points but still lost 79-70. Leading the team in scoring was Mikeal Brown-Jones with 20 points and nine rebounds. Kobe Langley added 15 points as well.

Chattanooga Mocs

Over on the Mocs’ side, they kicked off the year at 5-3 with losses to Evansville, Lipscomb and Morehead State. Chattanooga logged a 4-3 stretch over the next seven, beating Tennessee Wesleyan, Alabama A&M, Gardner-Webb and Furman while falling to Milwaukee, Auburn and Samford.

Matched up against VMI in their Thursday game, the Mocs had a pretty easy outing. Chattanooga turned a 52-30 halftime edge into a 109-61 blowout win with a 57-31 stretch in the second half. Randy Brady topped the team on 16 points and four rebounds off the bench.

I’ll stay with Chattanooga. The Mocs posted a nice game against a struggling VMI team in their last outing by shooting a nice 58.3 percent from the field with 42 rebounds. Chattanooga was hot from outside as well on a 47.2 percent (17-of-36) clip. The Mocs are scoring well these days with 73 or more points in five straight games.

As for UNC Greensboro, they weren’t quite able to hang with Samford in their last matchup but they’ve been playing well over the last three games with 70 or more points in each. Saturday’s outing should be a fun competitive affair, and you could probably make a case either way. I’m leaning toward the Mocs on the cover/win, but it’s a coin flip.
