Drake opened up the season on a pretty spotty run but they’ve been better over the last couple of games. The Bulldogs went just 2-2 in their first quartet of outings, though. In that time the wins were over Northern Arizona and Simpson College IA alongside losses to Robert Morris and SIU Edwardsville. In the last pair however, Drake has recorded wins over both Charleston and Buena Vista. That gives the Bulldogs a 4-2 run across their first half-dozen games so far this year.
In last Friday’s matchup versus Buena Vista, the Bulldogs came out of the first half with a commanding lead 41-27. Drake only got better from there on a 57-25 run and took the win in the end 98-52 for a blowout. Okku Federiko was tops on 16 points with six assists and six rebounds, while Braden Appelhans had 14 points and two boards. Jaehshon Thomas added 13 points and five rebounds while Jalen Quinn had 13 points and six assists.
LSU Tigers Betting Preview
Over on the LSU side, they’ve got five games in the can so far and have yet to record a blemish. The Tigers kicked off their season with a blowout win over Tarleton State, then dispatched New Orleans in a similar fashion. LSU would then get past Florida International in game three ahead of another blowout win versus Alcorn State. The Tigers’ latest appearance was another big win over Omaha last week. In total LSU sits at 5-0 overall this year so far.
Matched up against Omaha last Friday, the Tigers didn’t struggle too much. After a 50-37 advantage in the first half, LSU cruised on a 49-36 run from there and took the win 99-73 in the end. Tops in scoring was Max Mackinnon with 22 points, and Dedan Thomas chipped in 15 points with 10 assists for a double-double. Pablo Tamba had a team-high 13 rebounds alongside four assists and three points in the victory effort for the Tigers as well.

I’ll probably just stick with LSU here. The Tigers blew right past a struggling Omaha team last week in their latest appearance, shooting a smooth 52.4 percent from the field with 45.5 percent (15-of-33) from outside and 18-of-24 (75 percent) from the line. LSU had a 41-30 advantage on the boards and a 34-20 edge in the paint for a nice overall effort. The Tigers are scoring at a great clip these days; they’ve hit 93 or more points in all five games so far.
As for Drake, they didn’t have many troubles with Buena Vista in their last game either. The Bulldogs hit a stellar 60.9 percent from the field, 12-of-29 (41.4 percent) from outside and 8-of-10 from the line. The rebounding (39-14) and points in the paint (54-12) were both big advantages as well. Drake’s only two losses this year were each by just two points. That said, this one’s looking like a sizable defeat on paper.
