The Boston College Eagles and the Duke Blue Devils meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham. Here’s a Duke vs Boston College prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Duke vs Boston College pick.

Boston College Eagles Betting Preview

The Eagles opened with a 7-6 run over their first 13 games this year, losing to Florida Atlantic, Central Connecticut, Davidson, Tulane, LSU and UMass in that time. The next eight games were a 2-6 run with losses to Georgia Tech, NC State, Louisville, Clemson, Notre Dame and Virginia. Over the first 21 games of the season, that would give the Eagles a 9-12 record in the books.

In the Virginia matchup over the weekend, the Eagles were sitting in the locker room looking up at a five-point advantage 32-27. Boston College was outscored 46-34 the rest of the way however, leading to a 73-66 loss at home in the end. The Eagles’ Donald Hand was tops on the team in the losing effort with 20 points, six boards and four assists. Fred Payne added 17 points with seven rebounds.

Duke Blue Devils Betting Preview

Over on the Duke side, they opened the season on a great run. The Blue Devils won each of their first 11 games this year before taking a loss to Texas Tech in game 12 on December 20 by a single point. Next came wins over Georgia Tech, Florida State, Louisville, SMU, California, Stanford, Wake Forest, Louisville again and Virginia Tech. That gives Duke a 20-1 run across their first 21 outings.

Matched up against Virginia Tech on Saturday the Blue Devils hit a strong 40-31 advantage in the first half. Duke kept it going from there on a 32-27 advantage and took the victory in the end 72-58. Cameron Boozer led the team with his 24 points and eight rebounds with five assists. Both Isaiah Evans and Maliq Brown (three rebounds) added 11 points apiece in the victory.

Why the Duke Blue Devils will win

  • Duke has won each of its last 29 games at Cameron Indoor Stadium against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • Boston College has lost each of its last eight games against AP-ranked opponents.
  • Duke has won the first half in each of its last 21 February games as a top-10 AP-ranked team against a non-AP-ranked team.

Why the Boston College Eagles will win

  • Boston College has won the first half in each of its last three games.

Duke vs Boston College Prediction

I’m staying with Duke I suppose, but realistically the line’s too thick to mess with anyway. The Blue Devils didn’t have much issue with Virginia Tech in a road win over the weekend, hitting 52.5 percent from the field with a 30-20 advantage on the boards, a 46-24 edge on points in the paint and just eight turnovers. The 3-point shooting (5-of-21 for 23.8 percent) wasn’t great and the team only got to the line seven times (making five) but those were just about the only areas to complain about in the victory. Duke has won nine straight games now, and they’ve scored 71 or more points in 11 straight.

As for Boston College, they shot pretty well (47.1 percent) from the field in their loss to Virginia but faltered from outside (3-of-13 for 23.1 percent) and at the line (15-of-26 for 57.7 percent). The Eagles have lost six of their las eight games, but to be fair they’ve played some tough teams in that time. This one’s going to be yet another very difficult matchup for Boston College.
