The Dartmouth Big Green and Duke Blue Devils meet Monday in college basketball action at the Cameron Indoor Stadium. Let’s preview this game and give out a pick and prediction.
Dartmouth Big Green Betting Preview
The Dartmouth Big Green won 10 games last year, their first year with double-digit wins since the 2019-20 season. Dartmouth enters the seventh season under coach David McLaughlin. Ryan Cornish returns after averaging 12.5 points and 3.8 rebounds, while Dusan Neskovic averaged 12.2 points and 1.2 assists. Cade Haskins played in 344 minutes last season, and Brandon Mitchell-Day averaged 2.8 rebounds. The Dartmouth Big Green showed flashes last season and return a great deal of production, including two double-digit scorers. This could be a season where Dartmouth makes some noise in the Ivy. Of course, this is a measuring stick game for Dartmouth to see just how improved it can be.
Duke Blue Devils Betting Preview
The Duke Blue Devils won 27 games last season and made the big dance for a second straight year. Duke enters the second season under coach Jon Scheyer. Kyle Filipowski returns after averaging 15.1 points and 8.9 rebounds, while Jeremy Roach averaged 13.6 points and 3.1 assists. Mark Mitchell played in 949 minutes last season, and Tyrese Proctor averaged 3.1 rebounds. The Duke Blue Devils return their top-4 scorers from last season, so this is a rare year when there’s a proven core already in place. Duke then adds four 5-star recruits in Caleb Foster, Sean Steward, TJ Power and Jared McCain. Many consider Duke the team to beat and with the incoming talent along with the established production, it’s hard to argue. Duke has a legit chance to win its first NCAA Championship since 2015.
Randy’s Pick
The Dartmouth Big Green aren’t a pushover with their returning production, and they could contend in the Ivy. This is also a massive line for an opening game. With that said, the Duke Blue Devils have a clear talent edge and this is one of the few years when they have experience. Duke is stacked and a legit title contender, not a paper contender like it’s been in the past. I’ll lay the buckets with Duke if forced to pick.
