Kennesaw State Starts On High Note
The Kennesaw State Owls come into this one looking to build on a 93-46 win over subdivision Oakwood last time out. Demond Robinson and Simeon Cottle each had a team-high 16 points with Robinson shooting 7 of 13 from the field with a game-high 13 rebounds while Cottle had 4 threes. Jamel King added 13 points with 3 threes while Frankquon Sherman added 12 points with 10 rebounds for the other double-double and RJ Johnson chipped in 12 points with a team-high 8 assists to cap off the scoring in double figures for Kennesaw State in the win. Rongie Gordon also added 9 rebounds while Quincy Ademokoya also has 7 points with 7 rebounds and 4 assists. As a team, Kennesaw State shot 46.8% from the field, 36.4% from three and 52.9% from the foul line.
FSU Team Preview
The Florida State Seminoles come into the 2023-24 season looking to rebound from a frustrating and disappointing 2022-23 season, finishing 9-23 overall including a 7-13 mark in ACC conference play, and following a quick exit from the ACC Tournament, the Seminoles’ season was over. The ‘Noles have to replace a pair of double-digit scorers and two of their best players from last year’s squad in Matthew Cleveland (13.8 PPG, 7.4 RPG) and Caleb Mills (13 PPG, 3.4 APG), but they do retain the services of Darin Green Jr. (13.4 PPG) and Cam’Ron Fletcher (10.8 PPG, 7.5 RPG) but FSU does bring in some quality transfers like Josh Nickleberry (10.9 PPG) from La Salle to try to add to the scoring depth in an effort to rebound in 2023-24.
Chris’ Pick
I’m rolling with Kennesaw State and the points here. The Owls may have lost their top scoring option from last year in Chris Youngblood and FSU is still a step up over a team like Oakwood, but Florida State may need some time to shake off the rust and this was still a very disappointing Seminoles team last season so I’m taking a bit of a believe it when I see it approach from Florida State. Give me Kennesaw State and the points.
