Florida vs Ohio 12/14/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Ohio Bobcats and the Florida Gators meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Amalie Arena. Ohio is currently 5-4 on the year and fresh off a win over Youngstown State. Ohio lost three of their first four games this year, with a lone win over Cleveland State to show for it. The Bobcats won three straight over Eastern Illinois, Alabama State and Cincinnati-Clermont before another loss to Marshall. 

On Sunday versus Youngstown State, Ohio got back into the win column. The Bobcats took a 44-31 edge into the break and powered out the win despite a worse second half. Both AJ Clayton and Dwight Wilson doubled up on 10 points and 10 rebounds apiece. 

Over on the Florida side, they won three of their first four this season, losing to Florida Atlantic as the lone blemish. The Gators would hit a 3-3 run over their next six outings, beating Oregon State, Florida A&M and Stetson. 

Florida had a tough matchup in their last game against UConn. The Gators were down 36-23 by halftime and scored 31 more points from there in a 75-54 blowout loss. Alex Fudge and Riley Kugel each scored a team-high 13 points. 

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Florida. The Gators need a good bounce-back effort after a blowout loss to a very good UConn team, however. Florida shot just 30.2 percent from the field and 64.3 percent (18-of-28) from the line in that one and got out-rebounded 42-28 along the way. Still, the Gators have scored very well in comparable matchups this year; they’ve hit 76 or more points in each of their wins so far. As for Ohio, they’ve hit 69 or more points in five straight games; they’ll be able to hang around in this one if they’re scoring well. I ultimately like the Gators to pull off the cover, though.
