Fordham vs Akron 11/22/2021 College Basketball Picks, Best Bets and Odds

The Akron Zips and the Fordham Rams meet Monday in college basketball action from Germain Arena. Akron is 2-1 so far this year and fresh off a win over Wheeling Jesuit. Akron kicked off the year with a near-upset against Ohio State. The Buckeyes needed a late go-ahead layup to cap a 67-66 Zips loss. Akron won their next game, taking it 102-46 over Point Park. 

Akron didn’t have any trouble with Wheeling Jesuit in game three. The Zips scored 49 points in the first half and 50 more in the second during a 99-38 win. Enrique Freeman led the team on 15 points with 13 boards and three assists. 

Over on the Fordham side, they kicked off their year with a 77-67 win over Columbia. The Rams suffered their first loss 66-60 to Manhattan in game two, but bounced back for an 84-78 win over St. Thomas MN in game three. 

Back on Friday against Maryland Eastern Shore, the Rams surged to tie it up in the second half and force overtime. After fighting for two extra periods, Fordham ended up with a 75-73 loss. Darius Quisneberrey led the way on 25 points in the defeat. 

Fordham is 4-0 ATS in their last four neutral-site games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. The over is 8-3-1 in the Rams’ last 12 Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Zips are 1-5 ATS in their last six neutral-site games and 4-1 ATS in their last five Monday games. The over is 5-1 in Akron’s last six Monday games.

PICK: I’m going with Akron in this one. The Zips rolled in their last outing, with 61.9 percent shooting from the field, 44 rebounds, 12 team assists and 13 steals. This isn’t going to be such an easy matchup of course, as Fordham is coming off a feisty near-miss performance. Still, if Akron can get off to a good start I think they’ll be fine on a potential cover.
