Milwaukee Panthers

The Panthers were below .500 as late last February 10 this year, sitting at 12-13 overall. Milwaukee has been on a nice 6-1 run since then with a lone loss to Youngstown State. The wins came versus Cleveland State, Northern Kentucky, Fort Wayne, IUPUI, Green Bay and Detroit.

Matched up against Detroit on Tuesday in the tournament, the Panthers were all tied up at 35-35 by halftime. Milwaukee came back for a 48-44 run in the second and powered out the win 83-79. BJ Freeman doubled up in the victory with 30 points and 10 rebounds.

Green Bay Phoenix

Over on the Green Bay side, their year started at 12-9 before a win streak over Oakland, Detroit, IUPUI, Robert Morris and Youngstown State. The Phoenix are just 1-4 since then with losses to Northern Kentucky, Fort Wayne, Youngstown State and Milwaukee in that time.

Back on Saturday versus Milwaukee, the Phoenix held a 48-46 edge in the locker room. Green Bay fell apart in the second half on a 44-21 deficit though and ended up losing 90-69. David Douglas and Preston Ruedinger each scored 15 points to top the team in the defeat.

ANDREW’S FREE MILWAUKEE VS GREEN BAY PREDICTION

I’m going to take a stab on Green Bay but I’m not going near it. This one’s obviously a coin flip, and it’s tough telling what will happen. Green Bay had a rough second half in the Saturday game and eventually got out-rebounded 42-22 (17-5 offensive). The Phoenix’s other ugly stat was the 17 turnovers which led to 27 Panthers points.

The good news for the Phoenix is that they beat Milwaukee 70-58 in the home meeting between these teams. The bad news is that game was way back on December 2. The rest of the bad news is that Green Bay is just 1-4 in their last five games. I’d like to think the home atmosphere will give the Phoenix a lift, but it’s anyone’s game. Should be a fun one to watch.
