The Indiana Hoosiers and the Illinois Fighting Illini meet Sunday in college basketball action from State Farm Center in Champaign. Here’s an Illinois vs Indiana prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Illinois vs Indiana pick.
Indiana Hoosiers Betting Preview
In their first 15 games, the Hoosiers managed to go 12-3 overall. Indiana fell versus Minnesota, Louisville and Kentucky in that stretch. The Hoosiers would then lose versus Nebraska, Michigan State, Iowa and Michigan before taking victories versus Rutgers, Purdue and UCLA after that. After a defeat versus USC, Indiana beat Wisconsin and Oregon for a 17-8 overall record so far this year.
In Monday’s matchup with Oregon, Indiana was up 36-30 going into the second half. Following a nice 56-44 run the rest of the way, the Hoosiers eventually posted a victory on their home court 92-74. Topping the team in the winning effort was Lamar Wilkerson with a whopping 41 points, five rebounds and three assists. Sam Alexis chipped in 16 points and five rebounds alongside two assists as well.
Illinois Fighting Illini Betting Preview
Over on the Illinois side, they went 8-3 in their first 11 games this season with defeats versus Alabama, UConn and Nebraska. The Illini hit a winning streak after that, taking out Missouri, Southern, Penn State, Rutgers, Iowa, Northwestern, Minnesota, Maryland, Purdue, Washington, Nebraska and Northwestern. The next two games were both losses to Michigan State and Wisconsin though, leaving the Illini with a 20-5 run.
Matched up against Wisconsin on Tuesday the Illini were in good shape on a 44-38 advantage by halftime. Illinois was outscored 43-37 the rest of the way however, and had to go to overtime. Following the extra period the Illini ended up with a tough loss at home 92-90. Keaton Wagler led the team with 34 points, seven assists and one rebound while Tomislav Ivisic doubled on 19 points and 11 boards.

Illinois vs Indiana Prediction
I’ll stick with Illinois, but it’s a coin flip. The Illini really need to assert themselves on Sunday following a pair of tough overtime losses in their last two. In the Wisconsin game Illinois shot well from the field (53.3 percent) and from 3-point range (45.5 percent on 15 of 33) but hit just 57.9 percent (11 of 19) at the line alongside 13 turnovers. The Illini have lost by a combined five points in these last two games. They’ve got a couple of West Coast road matchups looming after this as well.
As for Indiana, they shot a nice 60 percent from the field with a 28-23 rebounding advantage and just nine turnovers in their home win over Oregon this week. The Hoosiers are playing great ball lately on a 5-1 run with 72 or more points scored in all six of those. I could easily see Indiana giving the Illini some major issues in this matchup. It should be a fun one to watch.
