The Green Bay Phoenix and the Kansas Jayhawks meet Monday in college basketball action from Allen Fieldhouse. Here’s a Kansas vs Green Bay prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Kansas vs Green Bay pick.
Green Bay Phoenix Betting Preview
Green Bay would certainly like to move on from last year’s campaign. The Phoenix had a rough ride in 2024-25, going just 4-28 overall. That total included a 2-18 run in Horizon League play, leaving Green Bay in the basement—two games behind their nearest competitor Detroit Mercy. The Phoenix’s campaign opened up with a 2-3 run featuring victories at Western Illinois and versus SIU Edwardsville—both by double-digits, in fact. After that however, a long losing streak stretched from November 22 versus Evansville to Valentine’s Day abasing Northern Kentucky. Green Bay would take wins in two of the next four outings over Wright State and Detroit Mercy, then closed with a loss to Oakland. In the Horizon League Tournament, the Phoenix were bounced in the first round versus Oakland on March 4 to end their season for good.
This year Green Bay gets head coach Doug Gottlieb back in the role, and the good news is that things can’t really go any worse. Assuming the team can avoid untimely injuries and rough scheduling stretches in 2025-26, the Phoenix should be taking a step forward—for what it’s worth. Green Bay will be returning three of their five starters, and with them a wealth of experience that should serve the team well. Last year’s squad led the Horizon League in both free throw rate and assist rate, but this season should be focused more on defense and size. Redshirt senior Preston Ruedinger (8.0 PPG) will be a key building block moving forward.
Kansas Jayhawks Betting Preview
Over on the Jayhawks’ side, they managed to play themselves into the national tournament last season but the early exit left a lot to be desired. Kansas ended up going 21-13 overall in Hall of Fame head coach Bill Self’s 22nd season, posting an 11-9 run in the Big 12. That result would leave the Jayhawks in sixth place among the standings, behind nationally-ranked Houston, Texas Tech, Arizona, BYU and Iowa State. The Jayhawks had an up-and-down conference campaign, failing to capitalize on winning streaks amid some tricky competition. Kansas never won more than three games in a row once Big 12 play began, and finished the regular season on a tough 1-2 stretch with losses to Texas Tech and Houston. After a Big 12 Tournament win over UCF, Kansas fell to Arizona in the quarterfinals then dropped their First Round NCAA Tournament matchup with Arkansas on March 20.
Looking ahead to 2025-26, the Jayhawks get Self back in the mix for his 23rd year. Roster-wise Kansas will start fresh with five brand-new starters. In total there are a whopping 10 newcomers, including highly-touted freshman Darryn Peterson. Many pundits have Peterson possibly going first in the 2026 NBA Draft, so it’ll certainly be an interesting season. Granted, there will be plenty of big contributors to replace, such as guard Zeke Mayo (14.6 PPG) and center Hunter Dickinson (17.4 PPG).

Kansas vs Green Bay Prediction
I’m likely just going to stick with Kansas, but if you’re adventurous you could make a case for the Phoenix filling in what’s sure to be a hefty line just about everywhere. In any case, the Jayhawks are well-equipped for an explosive season—on paper, anyway—with the likes of Peterson among guys like Melvin Council (St. Bonaventure) and Tre White (10.5 PPG). Regardless of who’s on the court, Kansas will have a workable system in place considering Self’s extensive experience, and they won’t have any problems selling jerseys this season. There will be some questions about the bench—especially when conference play really gets going—but we’ll see how things go in the meantime.
