James Madison Shocks Michigan State

The James Madison Dukes come into this one fresh off of the first huge upset of the year, taking out Michigan State by a final score of 79-76. Terrence Edwards Jr. led the charge with 24 points along with 3 assists and a 12 of 13 mark from the foul line while T.J. Bickerstaff added 21 points on 8 of 13 shooting with a game-high 14 rebounds for the double-double. Michael Green III added 13 points with 3 threes to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for JMU in the winning effort while Noah Friedel added 7 points with 11 rebounds as well in the win. As a team, James Madison shot 36.8% from the field, 27.6% from three and 75% from the foul line in the winning effort.

Kent State Beats Down Subdivision Opponent

The Kent State Golden Flashes will be looking to build on their 79-58 win over subdivision Malone in their last matchup. Giovanni Santiago led the Golden Flashes with 15 points on 5 of 10 shooting while Reggie Bass added 14 points and Cliron Hornbeak added 13 points on 6 of 6 shooting with 6 rebounds. Jalen Sullinger added 10 points on 3 of 5 shooting to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Kent State in the win. Delrecco Gillespie added 6 points and 9 rebounds with 6 offensive boards in the win as well. As a unit, Kent State shot 45.8% from the field, 21.7% from three and 83.3% from the foul line in the win.

I’m looking at Kent State here. I know it’s tempting to look at the Dukes here fresh off of the win over a top-5 Michigan State team, but I think with such a quick turnaround between that win and this game, it’s setting up for a prime letdown spot. This Kent State team is pretty good, and will not be looking past the Dukes. If anything I think it kind of puts a target on James Madison’s back. Give me Kent State in this one.
