The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the LSU Tigers meet Thursday in the college basketball SEC Tournament Second Round at the Bridgestone Arena. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Mississippi State vs. LSU prediction.

Mississippi State Team Preview

The Mississippi State Bulldogs come into the conference tournament as the 9-seed, finishing the year with an overall record of 19-12, including an 8-10 mark in SEC conference play. Josh Hubbard leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 16.2 PPG along with 2.3 RPG while Tolu Smith has 16.9 PPG and 8.4 RPG in 17 games so far this season. Cameron Matthews has 9.2 PPG and 7.1 RPG as well as 3 APG to lead the Bulldogs on the glass. Shakeel Moore also has 8.7 PPG while Dashawn Davis has 2.9 APG as well. LSU Team Preview

The LSU Tigers come into the conference tournament as the 8-seed, finishing the year at 17-14 overall including a 9-9 mark in SEC conference play. Jalen Cook has 15.6 PPG with 3.8 RPG and 2.8 RPG while Jordan Wright has 15.1 PPG, 5 RPG and 2.5 APG this season. Will Baker has 11.4 PPG with 5 RPG, capping off the trio of double-digit scorers for LSU so far this season. Tyrell Ward has 9.2 PPG as well up to this point in the year. As a team, LSU is averaging 76.9 PPG on 45.7% shooting from the field, 35.3% from three and 71.9% from the foul line this season.

Mississippi State vs. LSU Prediction

I’m on Mississippi State here. The Bulldogs have a lot more at stake in this game, as a loss to LSU would be much more detrimental than anything else in this game and LSU is a mile away from the bubble and would need to win the SEC tournament to have any shot at cracking the field. I just don’t think LSU has it in them and I think Mississippi State puts the clamps down here on the way to a win and cover.
