The San Diego State Aztecs and the Nevada Wolf Pack meet Friday in college basketball action from Lawlor Events Center. San Diego State is fresh off a win over Air Force that improved the Aztecs to 18-5 overall. As for Nevada, they’re sitting at 18-5 as well following a victory versus Utah State on Tuesday. San Diego State Aztecs
The Aztecs only lost two of their first 16 outings this year. Those defeats came courtesy of only BYU and Grand Canyon. San Diego State is a sketchier 4-3 since then with losses to New Mexico, Boise State and Colorado State alongside wins versus Nevada, Wyoming, Utah State and Air Force.
Matched up against Air Force on Tuesday, the Aztecs stormed out to a dominant 45-20 edge by halftime. San Diego State let off the gas pedal in the second with a 44-32 edge but still won comfortably 77-64. Reese Waters took top scoring honors with 15 points and four rebounds in the victory.

Nevada Wolf Pack
Over on the Nevada side, they managed to go 15-1 over their first 16 outings with a lone loss to Drake. The Wolf Pack are 3-4 in their last seven with losses to Boise State, San Diego State, Wyoming and New Mexico. The wins otherwise were over Colorado State, San Jose State and Utah State.
Back on Tuesday versus Utah State, the Wolf Pack went into the second half with a nice lead 36-27. Nevada kept up the pressure from there on a 41-36 run and bagged the road victory 77-63. Leading the way in scoring was Nick Davidson with 25 points. 10 rebounds and two steals.
ANDREW’S FREE SAN DIEGO STATE VS NEVADA PREDICTION
I’ll take a stab on Nevada. You could certainly call this one either way, though; it’ll be a great matchup. The Wolf Pack were great in their last outing versus a tough Utah State team, shooting a nice 52.9 percent from the field with 32 rebounds and 17 team assists. It was the fourth time in the last five games Nevada has scored 77 or more points (a 3-2 stretch).
These teams last met back on January 17 in a home game for San Diego State. The Aztecs won that matchup easily 71-59 on the strength of a 44-25 rebounding advantage (20-7 offensive). Nevada shot fairly well in the loss (45.1 percent) but the 14 turnovers—leading to 19 Aztecs points—didn’t help. This rematch will likely be closer in the end, especially if the Wolf Pack can improve their performance on the boards. It’ll be a fun one to watch regardless.
