The Citadel Bulldogs and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Joyce Center. The Citadel lost to Charleston in their latest outing, dropping the Bulldogs to 6-5 overall this year. As for Notre Dame, they’re sitting at 4-6 on the season following a loss to Georgetown over the weekend. Let’s get into our Citadel vs. Notre Dame prediction. The Citadel Bulldogs 

The Bulldogs lost their first three games of the season, dropping to NC State, Boston College and Presbyterian in that time. The Citadel bounced back well with six wins in their next seven games however, taking out North Greenville, Idaho State, NC Central, Charleston Southern, North Carolina A&T and Pfeiffer. 

In their last matchup versus Charleston back on Thursday, the Bulldogs were outscored by 12 in the first half and didn’t end up getting any closer in an 86-71 defeat. The Citadel’s Madison Durr (five rebounds; five assists) and AJ Smith each scored a team-high 18 points in the losing effort. 

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Over on the Irish’s side, they went 4-4 over their first eight outings this year. The losses in that time came versus Western Carolina, Auburn, South Carolina and Miami with wins otherwise over Niagara, Oklahoma State, MD-Eastern Shore and Western Michigan. Notre Dame fell in game nine to Marquette 78-59. 

Notre Dame took another loss to Georgetown back on Saturday in their latest outing, but this one was much closer. The Irish were up by two points at halftime and ended up falling 72-68 in overtime. Leading the scoring in that one was Markus Burton with 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. 

ANDREW’S FREE CITADEL VS NOTRE DAME PREDICTION 

I’ll stick with the Citadel here. We should have a pretty fun matchup on our hands regardless, though. The Bulldogs were outfoxed by a tricky Charleston team in their last outing, but they didn’t shoot too badly on 45.8 percent from the field. The Citadel managed 35 rebounds in the losing effort but also had 13 turnovers to the Cougars’ eight. The Bulldogs have been scoring very well lately with 81 or more points in three of the last four games, so a good bounce-back offensive effort would go a long way here. Notre Dame hasn’t reached 60 points in four of their last five losses, so offense will be an emphasis for them as well.
