The Iowa State Cyclones and the Oklahoma State Cowboys meet Saturday in college basketball action from Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater. Here’s an Oklahoma State vs Iowa State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Oklahoma State vs Iowa State pick.

Iowa State Cyclones Betting Preview

The Cyclones kicked off the season with a stellar 16-0 run. Iowa State dispatched the likes of Mississippi State, St. John’s, Creighton, Syracuse, Purdue, Iowa, Long Beach State, West Virginia, Baylor and Oklahoma State during that unbeaten stretch. After consecutive losses to Kansas and Cincinnati, Iowa State got back in the win column this week with a victory over UCF. That gives Iowa State a 17-2 record in 19 games this year.
In the matchup with Central Florida back on Tuesday the Cyclones entered the second half with a 44-26 advantage. Iowa State kept it up from there on a 43-31 run and took the blowout win at home in the end 87-57. Milan Momcilovic was tops on 20 points with two rebounds while Joshua Jefferson tripled up on 17 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. Killyan Toure chipped in 12 points with five rebounds as well.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Betting Preview

Over on the Oklahoma State side, they kicked off the season with a win streak of their own, taking out nine teams in a row before falling versus Oklahoma. The Cowboys were able to record victories in four of the next five, but they’ve since gone 1-3 in the last four. Those losses came versus Iowa State, Baylor and TCU (with a win over Kansas State). That makes a 14-5 record in 19 games for the Cowboys so far.

Matched up against TCU on Tuesday the Cowboys were ahead by four points in the locker room. Oklahoma State was outscored 31-24 the rest of the way however, leading to a road loss 68-65 at the end of the game. Leading the team in the futile effort was Isaiah Coleman with 14 points and six boards. Anthony Roy added 13 points with four rebounds and Kanye Clary had 11 points with six assists and two rebounds.

Why the Oklahoma State Cowboys will win

  • Oklahoma State has won 12 of its last 13 home games.
  • Iowa State has lost each of its last four day games at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
  • Oklahoma State has won the first half in 13 of its last 14 day games at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Why the Iowa State Cyclones will win

  • Oklahoma State has lost 14 of its last 15 games against Top 10 AP-ranked opponents.
  • Iowa State has won 10 of its last 11 day games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • Oklahoma State has lost the first half in 10 of its last 11 games against Top 10 AP-ranked opponents.

Oklahoma State vs Iowa State Prediction

I’ll lean toward Iowa State. The Cyclones didn’t have any issues at Hilton Coliseum versus UCF in their last game, hitting a nice 50.8 percent from the field with a 35-27 rebounding edge and a 42-18 advantage on points in the paint. Iowa State committed just five turnovers but could have been much better from the line (12-of-21 for 57.1 percent). Still, it was a much-needed dominant victory at home following consecutive losses for the Cyclones. Iowa State has managed to hit 70 or more points in eight of the last nine games as well.

These teams last met up back on January 10 in a home victory 83-71 for Iowa State. In that one the Cyclones shot 46.6 percent from the field with a 34-24 edge on the boards and a 40-24 advantage in the paint. Iowa State has lost their last two road games though, so they’ll have to be careful here in the rematch.
