Missouri Tigers
The Tigers opened the year at 7-2 through their first nine, but they’ve only been able to win one game (Central Arkansas) since then. Missouri has lost to Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Texas A&M, South Carolina again, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M again and Mississippi State since that lone win.
Last Saturday versus Mississippi State, Missouri was able to hang around in the first half with a 30-26 deficit. The Tigers were drilled 45-25 in the second however, losing 75-51 in the end. Nick Honor was the top team scorer with 15 points and two rebounds in 37 minutes.
Ole Miss Rebels
Over on the Ole Miss side, they lost just one game (Tennessee) in their first 16 outings. The Rebels are a shaky 3-5 in their last eight though, with losses to LSU, Auburn, Auburn again, South Carolina and Kentucky mixed with wins over Arkansas, Texas A&M and Mississippi State.
On Tuesday in their latest outing versus Kentucky, the Rebels faced a stiff deficit 43-29 in the locker room. Ole Miss got slightly better from there on 34 points but still took the loss 75-63 in the end. Both Jaemyn Brakefield (five rebounds) and Matthew Murrell (six rebounds) scored a team-high 16 points.
ANDREW’S FREE MISSOURI VS OLE MISS PREDICTION
I’ll stick with Ole Miss. The Rebels didn’t fare so well on offense versus a good Kentucky team in their last outing. Ole Miss shot just 37.5 percent from the field and 5-of-22 (22.7 percent) from 3-point range in that one, allowing 51.9 percent on the other side. That makes just 128 combined points in the last pair for the Rebels, but to be fair, they’ve played some tough teams (and two road games) in the last trio.
As for Missouri, there aren’t a lot of positives to point to these days. The Tigers have fewer than 62 points in three straight games and haven’t shown much life on either side of the ball. Ole Miss should be able to control this one if the Rebels play to their capabilities.
