Delaware State Hornets Betting Preview

The Delaware State Hornets haven’t won more than 6 games in each of their last 6 seasons. Coach Stan Waterman returns for his third season. Martaz Robinson returns after averaging 11.8 points and 5.6 rebounds, while Brandon Stone averaged 11.1 points and 0.7 assists. Khyrie Staten returns after averaging 20.1 minutes and Jevin Muniz played in 807 minutes. Delaware State has had zero success over the last several years, as we’re talking about a program that hasn’t won double-digit games since 2016-17. However, Delaware State returns a boatload of returning production from last season, and that should lead to some optimism. This is a nice test to start the season. 

Penn State Nittany Lions Betting Preview

The Penn State Nittany Lions made the second round of the big dance last year, and now begins the Mike Rhoades era. Rhoades won 129 games at VCU and was the 2019 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year. Camren Wynter returns after averaging 8.9 points and 2.9 rebounds, while Myles Dread averaged 5.5 points and 0.9 assists. Kanye Clary averaged 10.4 minutes per game and Kebba Njie averaged 3.5 rebounds. Penn State lost its top-3 scorers from last season, and that includes 2 NBA second round picks in Seth Lundy and Jalen Pickett. It could take some time to adjust, especially with a new coaching staff. However, the Nittany Lions get a boost in transfers D’Marco Dunn from UNC and Favour Aire from Miami.

The Penn State Nittany Lions have a clear talent edge, but they also lost a lot of production from last season and have a new coach. The Delaware State Hornets return most of last year’s roster and while they’re at a talent disadvantage, that experience of playing together does help early in the year when teams are still trying to find their footing. This is a lot of points. I’ll take a shot with Delaware State and the free points, given its experience playing together.
