The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Penn State Nittany Lions meet Saturday in college basketball action from Madison Square Garden. Georgia Tech beat Alabama A&M in their last game, moving to 5-3 on the season. As for Penn State, they’re sitting at .500 through 10 games following a win over Ohio State last Saturday. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The Yellow Jackets managed a sketchy 4-3 run through their first seven outings this year. In that time Georgia Tech put up wins over Georgia Southern, Howard, Mississippi State and Duke. The losses otherwise came versus UMass Lowell, Cincinnati and Georgia. The Yellow Jackets shot just 32 percent from the field in the 76-62 loss to the Bulldogs.
In their latest matchup versus Alabama A&M, the Yellow Jackets were able to crawl back into the win column. Georgia Tech was up 34-17 going into the second half and ended up with a 70-49 outcome. The Yellow Jackets’ top scorer was Kowacie Reeves with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Penn State Nittany Lions
Over on the Lions’ side, they started out great this year with four straight wins over Delaware State, Lehigh, St. Francis PA and Morehead State. Penn State would lose five straight games after that however, falling to Texas A&M, Butler, VCU, Bucknell and Maryland in succession.
Matched up against Ohio State in their latest game, Penn State was able to stop the bleeding. The Nittany Lions were down 41-29 by the break but stormed back with 54 points from there in an 83-80 win. Kanye Clary was the top team scorer with 19 points and five boards. Leo O’Boyle came off the bench for 15 points as well.
ANDREW’S FREE GEORGIA TECH VS PENN STATE PREDICTION
I’ll stick with Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets dispatched Alabama A&M pretty easily in their latest game, hitting 42.9 percent from the field with a 55-28 rebounding advantage. There were a few things to clean up (like 28.6 percent from 3-point range and 63.6 percent from the line) but overall it was a dominant victory. Georgia Tech has been a pretty erratic team at times this year already, however they should be able to hang with Penn State if all goes well.
Speaking of the Nittany Lions, they’re coming off a much-needed victory. Penn State has still scored pretty well even with the losing streak, hitting 74 or more points in nine of 10 games this year. I like a fairly high-scoring outing on Saturday as well. Should be entertaining.
