The Indiana Hoosiers and the Providence Friars meet Friday in college basketball action from Imperial Arena. Here’s a Providence vs Indiana prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Providence vs Indiana pick.

Indiana Hoosiers Betting Preview

The Hoosiers got off to a solid start this year, recording wins in each of their first four games. Those came versus SIU Edwardsville, Eastern Illinois, South Carolina, and UNC Greensboro. After a Wednesday loss to Louisville, Indiana fell again to Gonzaga on Thanksgiving.

In the Thursday matchup versus Gonzaga, the Hoosiers were drilled 57-39 in the first half. Indiana hit a 34-32 advantage from there but lost by a sizable 89-73 margin in the end. Oumar Ballo was the leading team scorer with 25 points, four rebounds, and four assists.

Providence Friars Betting Preview

Over on the Providence side, they kicked things off with a 5-0 run. The Friars took out Central Connecticut, Stonehill, Hampton, Green Bay, and Delaware State in that stretch. The next two games were both losses to Oklahoma 79-77 and Davidson 69-58.

On Thursday versus the Wildcats, Providence faced a rough 38-18 deficit by the break. The Friars improved on a 40-31 run from there but still lost 69-58. Leading the way in scoring was Jayden Pierre with 14 points and two boards.

Providence vs Indiana Prediction

I’ll probably still lean toward Indiana. The Hoosiers shot pretty well overall in their Thursday loss to Gonzaga, hitting 45.8 percent from the field. The 3-point shooting (4-of-18) and free-throw shooting (15-of-22) weren’t great, however, and alongside a 42-31 rebounding deficit made for a pretty rough afternoon. Still, it was a better performance than Wednesday’s loss to Louisville, which featured a dismal 33.3 percent shooting and 23 turnovers. It’s been a rough week for the Hoosiers, who will be glad to get back to Bloomington on Tuesday against Sam Houston.

As for Providence, they couldn’t compare to a pretty good Davidson team in their Thursday matchup, hitting just 31 percent from the field in a double-digit loss. The Hoosiers should have control from wire to wire here, but it’ll be a high total if Providence can regain some composure offensively.
