The Marshall Thundering Herd and the Purdue Boilermakers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Mackey Arena. Here’s a Purdue vs Marshall prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Purdue vs Marshall pick.
Marshall Thundering Herd Betting Preview
Marshall opened their season with a routine win 90-57 over Davis & Elkins, then fell to Toledo 90-80 in game two. The Herd were able to bounce back a couple of days later however, taking out Southern Indiana 77-63.
Matched up against Bellarmine last Saturday, the Thundering Herd took a 34-34 tie into the second half. Marshall got better from there on a 49-28 run and took the win 83-62. Nate Martin was the top team scorer with 23 points and nine rebounds.
Purdue Boilermakers Betting Preview
Over on the Purdue side, they emerged unscathed over their first four games. Those victories came 90-73 over Texas A&M-CC, 72-50 versus Northern Kentucky, 92-84 over Yale and 87-78 in a nice home effort versus Alabama.
The Boilermakers took their first loss of the year on Tuesday versus Marquette. Purdue was in trouble with a 35-28 first-half deficit and limped to a 76-58 loss on a 41-30 second-half run. Trey Kaufman-Renn led the team in the defeat with 16 points and eight boards.

Purdue vs Marshall Prediction
I’ll probably stay with Purdue. The Boilermakers need to reassert themselves with a good effort here after a pretty limp loss to Marquette in their last outing. Purdue stayed competitive on the boards but shot a tepid 40 percent from the field alongside 15 turnovers, two steals and no blocks. It was their worst outing of the season by quite a margin.
As for Marshall, they started slowly against a struggling Bellarmine team in their last outing but everything worked out in the end. The Herd have hit 77 or more points in all four games so far this year, but needless to say it’ll be an uphill battle on Saturday.
