Niagara Purple Eagles
Niagara went 9-5 over their first 14 games, losing to Maryland, Bucknell, St. John’s, Iona and NJIT in that time. The Eagles have since gone 0-4 with losses to Manhattan, Siena, Marist and Rider.
On Friday versus Rider, Niagara was up 35-30 going into the second half. The Purple Eagles couldn’t keep pace on a 35-27 second-half deficit and lost 65-62. Tops in scoring was Aaron Gray with 18 points and seven boards.
St. Peter’s Peacocks
Over on the St. Peter’s side, they lost to Seton Hall, St Francis BK, Mount St. Mary’s, Fairfield, St. Joseph’s, Maryland and Iona in their first 14 games. The Peacocks would then hit a four-game losing streak before a win over Marist.
Matched up against Marist on Friday, the Peacocks were all tied up 22-22 at the break. St. Peter’s posted a 39-35 run from there and won it 61-57. Both Mouhamed Sow and Isiah Dasher put up 16 points apiece to lead the team.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably take a stab on Niagara. Also probably staying away from this one; you could make a case either way. Niagara really needs to get their offense going. The team has been competitive during this four-game losing streak but they haven’t been able to crack 64 points in any game during that quartet. As for St. Peter’s, they’re just 1-5 in their last six games and haven’t been able to get past 61 points in any of those. This game could go a lot of different ways; I’m leaning toward Niagara for the cover/win but it’s probably a coin flip.
