The Samford Bulldogs and the San Francisco Dons meet Monday in college basketball action from Samford sits at 2-0 so far following wins over Maryville TN and Spring Hill. Samford took on Maryville TN in their opener this year and didn’t have too many issues. The Bulldogs scored 49 points in the first half and 50 more in the second for a 99-78 win. The lead scorer was Ques Glover with 19 points, three assists and two steals.
In game two, Samford secured another victory. This time it was a 50-point first half during an 86-69 win over Spring Hill. The Bulldogs’ Jermaine Marshall topped the team this time, posting 16 points, 10 rebounds and four steals in 23 minutes of work.
Over on the San Francisco side, they beat LIU in their opener this year. The Dons posted 50 points in the second half during a 98-64 blowout win. In game two it was more of the same. San Francisco put up 50 points in the second half again for a 92-76 win over Prairie View A&M.
In their last appearance against Davidson, the Dons saw their first challenge of the year. San Francisco scored just 27 first-half points, but were still able to hold off Davidson 65-60. Jamaree Bouyea was the top scorer with 14 points, five rebounds and four steals.
San Francisco is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 overall and 2-7 ATS in their last nine at home. The Dons are 2-7 ATS in their last nine as a favorite.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 8-20-1 ATS in their last 29 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games. Samford is 10-26-2 ATS in their last 38 as an underdog.
PICK: I’m going to stick with San Francisco. This should be a pretty good matchup overall, though. The Dons had some issues fending off Davidson in their last outing with 18 turnovers, 20 fouls and a 32-31 rebounding deficit. San Francisco was able to keep pace on the scoreboard and power out the victory.
As for Samford, we’ll get to see what they’re made of in this matchup as they haven’t played anyone of consequence just yet. I like the Bulldogs to put up a competitive outing here in an eventual Dons cover.
