The Creighton Bluejays and the Seton Hall Pirates meet Saturday in college basketball action from Prudential Center. Creighton is fresh off a Wednesday matchup versus UConn. In that one the Bluejays took a low-scoring loss to fall to 13-5 overall. As for Seton Hall, they’re 13-5 on the year as well and coming off a win over St. John’s on Tuesday. Let’s get into our Creighton vs. Seton Hall prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Creighton Bluejays
The Bluejays posted a nice 8-1 run to open the season, taking a loss to only Colorado State in that time. Creighton would then hit a sketchy 1-3 run with losses to UNLV, Villanova and Marquette. The next four were all wins over Georgetown, Providence, DePaul and St. John’s, however.
On Wednesday versus UConn, the Bluejays scored just 21 points in the first half and 27 in the second on the way to a 62-48 defeat. Leading the team was Steven Ashworth on 14 points and two rebounds, while Baylor Scheierman added 12 points with six boards in the losing effort.
Seton Hall Pirates
Over on the Pirates’ side, they got off to a sketchy 5-4 run in their first nine games with losses to USC, Iowa, Baylor and Rutgers in that time. Seton Hall is 8-1 since then though, taking out Monmouth, Missouri, UConn, Providence, Marquette, Georgetown, Butler and St. John’s along the way.
Matched up against St. John’s on Tuesday, the Pirates stormed out to a 38-24 edge by halftime. Seton Hall cruised on a 42-41 second half and took the win 80-65. Leading the way was Al-Amir Dawes on 21 points, two steals, one rebound and one assist in 33 minutes of action.
ANDREW’S FREE CREIGHTON VS SETON HALL PREDICTION
I’ll take a stab on Seton Hall here. The Pirates are looking pretty good right now and fresh off a nice win over a decent St. John’s team. Seton Hall put up a tepid 39.7 percent shooting in that one with 14 turnovers, but they were consistent from the line (81.3 percent) and notched a dominant 49-28 rebounding advantage (21-12 offensive). The Pirates have hit 74 or more points in four straight games, and they’ll likely need to hit that threshold in this one.
As for Creighton, they weren’t able to find much offensive room against a great UConn team Wednesday, shooting just 23.1 percent (6-of-26) from 3-point range. The Bluejays should be able to bounce back and play well in this one, but I think the Pirates can power out the cover (and maybe win). Should be a fun game to watch.
