The Marquette Golden Eagles and the Seton Hall Pirates meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Prudential Center. Here’s a Seton Hall vs Marquette prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Seton Hall vs Marquette pick.
Marquette Golden Eagles Betting Preview
The Golden Eagles only have one spotty three-game stretch in the books so far. Otherwise, it’s been quite a consistent season overall. Marquette beat Stony Brook, George Mason, Central Michigan, Maryland, Purdue, Georgia, Stonehill, and Western Carolina during an 8-0 opening run. The next trio was a 1-2 result however, as the Golden Eagles beat Wisconsin in between losses to Iowa State and Dayton. Marquette got back on track with wins over Butler, Xavier, Providence, Creighton Georgetown, and DePaul in their next six games, then took a loss to Xavier over the weekend for a 15-3 overall record on the season thus far.
In the Xavier game on Saturday, the Golden Eagles came out of halftime with a 35-24 deficit. Marquette got better in the second with a 33-24 advantage, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap in a 59-57 loss. Leading the team in the losing effort was David Joplin with 18 points, four assists, and six rebounds. Kam Jones also finished in double-figures with 11 points, six assists, and three boards, while Ben Gold had 13 rebounds with five points in 32 minutes.
Seton Hall Pirates Betting Preview
Over on the Seton Hall side, their season hasn’t gone very well—especially lately. The Pirates opened on a reasonable run, but they’ve got just one win in the books since early December. Seton Hall beat Saint Peter’s, Wagner, VCU, Florida Atlantic, and NJIT with losses otherwise versus Fordham, Hofstra, Vanderbilt, and Monmouth during a 5-4 opening run. Since then it’s been a 1-8 skid though, with a lone win over DePaul. The losses otherwise have come versus Oklahoma State, Rutgers, Villanova, Georgetown, Xavier, Providence, Butler, and St. John’s for a 6-12 overall record through the Pirates’ first 18 games of the year.
Matched up against St. John’s in their Saturday outing, the Pirates held a 39-16 deficit by halftime. Seton Hall didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 40-35 second half and lost big 79-51 in blowout fashion. The only double-digit scorer on the team was starter Isaiah Coleman with 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Jahseem Felton got close to that threshold with nine points, one rebound, and one steal in 20 minutes off the bench.

Seton Hall vs Marquette Prediction
I’ll stick with Marquette. The Golden Eagles are coming off a rough game against a decent Xavier team though, so they’ll need a good bounce-back effort in this one. Marquette shot just 37.1 percent from the field with 13 turnovers in that defeat. The good news is that the Eagles did well on defense in a low-scoring game, though. They held the Musketeers to just 40.4 percent shooting overall and 2-of-17 (11.8 percent) from outside. The home loss still stings however and halts a six-game win streak in which Marquette had posted 72 or more points in each outing.
As for Seton Hall, they shot a miserable 26.3 percent from the field with 18 turnovers for 29 Hawks points in their latest loss to St. Joseph’s. The Pirates had also been scoring well prior to that loss, with 72 or more points in five straight (a 1-4 stretch). Seton Hall is giving up a lot of points in those games as well. Specifically, they’ve surrendered 80 or more in five straight, so Marquette should have the green light when it comes to scoring here. I like the Eagles to regain their composure after the tough loss and take out their frustrations on an overmatched Seton Hall squad.
