UConn Huskies
The Huskies didn’t have too many issues winning their first seven games of the year. Those victories came over Northern Arizona, Stonehill, MS Valley State, Indiana, Texas, Manhattan and New Hampshire. UConn took their lone loss to Kansas 69-65, but bounced back with wins over North Carolina and AR-Pine Bluff.
In their latest matchup versus Gonzaga, the Huskies kept their run going. UConn jumped out to a 45-34 edge by the break and held off the Bulldogs from there in a 76-63 victory. Leading team scorer Donovan Clingan put up 21 points with eight rebounds, and Cam Spencer added 15 points with four boards.
Seton Hall Pirates
Over on the Seton Hall side, they won their first four games this year over Saint Peter’s, Fairleigh Dickinson, Albany and Wagner. The Pirates would then hit a 1-4 stretch with losses to USC, Iowa, Baylor and Rutgers (mixed with a win over Northeastern) before righting the ship with a win over Monmouth 70-61.
Seton Hall made it consecutive victories with a win over Missouri on Sunday. The Pirates were up by four points going into the second half, then scored 51 more from there in a nice 93-87 win. Leading the way was Al-Amir Dawes with 25 points and three assists, while Dylan Addae-Wusu added 20 points.
ANDREW’S FREE UCONN VS SETON HALL PREDICTION
I’ll stick with UConn, but this will be an intriguing matchup regardless. The Huskies are coming off a very nice win over a good Gonzaga team, hitting 55.8 percent from the field and 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from 3-point range. UConn has scored 76 or more points in all 10 wins so far this year, so another big total will be imperative here.
As for Seton Hall, they shot a nice 58.9 percent from the field against Missouri but also coughed up 15 turnovers in the victory. The Pirates have hit 70 or more points in each of their victories so far; if both teams are on point we’ll have a pretty sizable total on Wednesday. I like the Huskies slightly better cover-wise, though.
