Georgia Southern Eagles

The Eagles managed a 5-16 run over their first 21 games and things only got worse from there. Georgia Southern lost to Troy, App State, South Alabama, Buffalo, Coastal Carolina and James Madison (twice) in the next eight games. Since then it’s been wins over Marshall and Old Dominion.

Back on Friday versus Old Dominion, the Eagles came out of the break with a 45-30 edge. Georgia Southern finished off with a 47-45 run and took the victory 92-75 in the end. Tyren Moore went off for 32 points, five assists and two rebounds in the victory effort.

South Alabama Jaguars

Over on the Jaguars’ side, they weren’t looking so good by the 23-game mark at 10-13 overall. South Alabama is 6-2 in their last eight, however. The wins in that time have come versus Georgia Southern, Northern Illinois, Texas State, Southern Miss (twice) and LA-Monroe.

Matched up against LA-Monroe in their last outing, the Jaguars trailed 36-34 going into the second half. South Alabama got it in gear from there on a 46-33 run and took the victory 80-69. Leading the way was Tyrell Jones with his 21 points, four rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes.

ANDREW’S FREE GEORGIA SOUTHERN VS SOUTH ALABAMA PREDICTION

I’ll take a stab on Georgia Southern here. This should be a pretty interesting matchup regardless, though. The Eagles played pretty well against a struggling Old Dominion team in their last game. GA Southern hit 47.6 percent from the field and a nice 20-of-20 from the line in that one along with 43 rebounds. The Eagles finished strong in their 3-1 home stand with 74 or more points in each game—and 84 or more in the three wins.

Georgia Southern lost 78-65 on the road the last time these teams met up back on February 7. The Eagles shot a tepid 40.4 percent from the field and 20.8 percent (5-of-28) in that one, however the free throw shooting was great (18-of-20). It was a sloppy game on both sides with 33 total turnovers (14 from the Eagles), so this one could get wild. I like Georgia Southern to hang in there and cover/win if all goes well. Should be a fun one.
