South Alabama vs Tarleton State 12/14/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Tarleton State Texans and the South Alabama Jaguars meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Mitchell Center. Tarleton State is 3-7 this year. The Texans are coming off a win over Southwestern Assemblies of God. As for the Jaguars, they’re 8-2 so far and fresh off a win over Jacksonville State. Tarleton State posted just one win in their first eight games. Otherwise it was losses to Stanford, Kansas, Wichita State, North Dakota State, Michigan, Gonzaga and Charleston Southern. The Texans have won their last pair of Dallas Christian and SAGU. 

In the matchup versus Southwestern Assemblies of God last Wednesday, the Texans posted a 46-28 first-half edge and hung on for the 81-75 win. Montre’ Gipson topped the team on 29 points with six rebounds. 

Over on the South Alabama side, they started off spotty at 1-2. Since then the Jaguars have hit a seven-game win streak over Mobile, William Carey, San Diego, Hawaii, Texas A&M-Commerce, Southern Miss and Jacksonville State. 

Back on December 4 versus Jacksonville State, the Jaguars turned a slim 28-27 halftime lead into a 74-64 win with 46 second-half points. Charles Manning led the way on 22 points, four rebounds and two assists. 

The Jaguars are 5-1 ATS in their last six overall and 6-1 ATS in their last seven Tuesday games. The over is 4-1 in South Alabama’s last five after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Texans are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight road games and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 overall. The under is 17-4 in Tarleton State’s last 21 overall. 

PICK: I’m probably sticking with South Alabama here. The Jaguars have been on a nice run lately, posting 68 or more points in each of their last eight games. There have been a couple of scares along the way during this win streak, but South Alabama has taken care of business. 

As for Tarleton State, they’ve got a couple of cupcake wins in their last pair and to the team’s credit they’ve scored well. I don’t think the Texans can keep up here, though.
