South Alabama vs TX-Arlington 2/25/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Texas-Arlington Mavericks and the South Alabama Jaguars meet Friday in college basketball action from Mitchell Center. TX-Arlington is 11-16 on the year and lost to Troy in their last outing. TX Arlington had a rough start to the year but was still sitting at .500 in mid-January. The Mavericks are just 3-8 since then, though. It’s been a 2-2 run over the last four with wins over Louisiana and Little Rock before losses to Arkansas State and Troy. 

Matched up against Troy back on Wednesday, the Mavericks were down 24-28 by halftime. Texas Arlington hit a 29-31 run in the second half and fell 59-53. David Azore led the team on his 22 points with five rebounds and two steals. 

Over on the South Alabama side, they were 15-5 after a five-game win streak back in late January. The Jags are on a 3-5 run since then, however. The losses in that time have come to Troy, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, App State and Texas State. 

In the Texas State game, the Jaguars kept up in the first half with a 25-25 tie. The second half featured a 27-30 deficit however, and South Alabama lost 55-52. Javon Franklin was the only double-digit scorer on 16 points and eight boards. 

The Jaguars are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 at home and the under is 6-0 in their last six after an ATS loss. The under is 5-0 in South Alabama’s last five after a straight-up loss.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks are 0-5 ATS in their last five Friday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. The over is 5-2 in TX-Arlington’s last seven road games. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with South Alabama here. The Jaguars have been pretty sketchy this month, though. South Alabama has been at 68 points or fewer in each of their last six losses, so they’re going to want to aim for the 70-point mark or so to make sure they’re on pace here. The last time these teams met up back on December 30, TX-Arlington took a tight 89-87 overtime win at home. I like this one to be competitive and high-scoring as well, with the Jaguars powering out a revenge cover.
