Saint Joseph’s Hawks
The Hawks only lost three of their first 13 games to Texas A&M-Commerce, Kentucky and Charleston. Saint Joseph’s would then lose three straight to Rhode Island, Saint Louis and Loyola before recovering with wins over La Salle, Duquesne and UMass in the next trio.
On Tuesday versus UMass, the Hawks were facing a four-point deficit going into the second half. Saint Joseph’s stormed back in the second half with a 40-35 run and took the comeback win 78-77, though. Tops in scoring was Erik Reynolds with 31 points, three steals, three assists and four rebounds.

St. Bonaventure Bonnies
Over on the Bonnies’ side, they got off to a nice 10-3 start as well with losses to only Canisius, Auburn and Florida Atlantic. St. Bonaventure is just 1-4 in their last five though, falling to Richmond, Fordham, George Mason and Duquesne alongside a win over Rhode Island in that time.
In their latest matchup versus Duquesne on Tuesday, the Bonnies were only able to score 15 points in the first half. St. Bonaventure hit a 35-32 edge in the second but still lost 54-50. Charles Pride was the team’s top scorer with his 14 points, four rebounds and three steals in 37 minutes of work.
ANDREW’S FREE SAINT JOSEPH’S VS ST. BONAVENTURE PREDICTION
I’ll stick with Saint Joseph’s. The Hawks had a close call versus UMass in their last game, getting out-rebounded 40-33 with 13 turnovers in the one-point win. Saint Joseph’s still shot pretty well in that one though (47.5 percent), and overall they’re playing well right now. The Hawks have hit 71 or more points in 10 straight outings, so the offense is clicking normally.
As for St. Bonaventure, they’ve been able to muster just 110 combined points in their past two games (both losses). The Bonnies usually post pretty good points totals at home this year though, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a high finish here. Ultimately I like the Hawks to take the cover but the Bonnies should hang around.
