The VCU Rams and the St. Bonaventure Bonnies meet in college basketball action from the Reilly Center on Wednesday evening.

The VCU Rams will be looking to add to their 10-3 record after an 84-77 win over George Washington last time out. Nah’Shon Hyland leads the Rams in scoring with 18.1 PPG while Vince Williams Jr. has 10.8 PPG with a team-high 5.2 RPG to make up the duo of double-digit scorers for the Rams coming into Wednesday’s matchup with the Bonnies. Keshawn Curry has 8.4 PPG with 3 RPG and Adrian Baldwin Jr. has a team-high 4.8 APG this season. As a team, VCU is averaging 76.5 PPG on 47.4% shooting from the field, 34.1% from 3-point range and 74.5% from the foul line while giving up 66.7 PPG on 40.3% shooting from the field and 30.8% from 3-point range this season.

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies will be looking to add to a 62-48 beatdown victory over Duquesne last time out. Jared Holmes leads the Bonnies in scoring with 15.6 PPG along with 5.3 RPG while Kyle Lofton is 2nd in scoring with 15.4 PPG and tops in assists with 5.3 APG this season. Jalen Adaway has 10.9 PPT with 5.9 RPG and Osun Osunniyi has 10.3 PPG and a team-high 9.7 RPG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for St. Bonaventure up to this point in the season. Dominick Welch has 9 PPG with 6.9 RPG as well this season. As a team, St. Bonaventure is averaging 71 PPG on 43.5% shooting from the field, 29.3% from 3-point range and 71.8% from the foul line while giving up 61.6 PPG on 40% shooting from the field and 27.1% from 3-point range this season.

VCU is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 road games. St. Bonaventure is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 home games while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record. The favorite is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.

The points with VCU are tempting as the Rams’ defense can show up and take teams out of the game when they least expect it. However, the Rams are also struggling to cover numbers and even though we don’t get points with VCU often, it’s warranted in this spot as the Bonnies are the better team in my opinion. St. Bonaventure’s covered in four straight and has four double-digit scorers while VCU’s failed to cover in 3 straight and 4 of their last 5 and is reliant on their top two scorers for a lot of the heavy lifting. I’ll side with St. Bonaventure at home in this spot.
