Fordham put up a 3-3 run to start this season, beating Columbia, St. Thomas MN and Akron with losses to Manhattan, MD Eastern Shore and Delaware. Since then the Rams have won three straight over Rice, Central CT State and St. Francis BK.
In Wednesday’s matchup versus the Terriers, Fordham scored 34 points in each half and didn’t have too much trouble keeping St. Francis-BK at bay in a 68-46 win. Chuba Ohams pulled down a whopping 22 rebounds with 20 points and two assists.
St. John’s beat MS Valley State and Saint Peter’s in their first pair this year before a loss to Indiana. After wins over Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Francis-BK and NJIT, the Red Storm took another loss to Kentucky.
In the Kentucky game, St. John’s was down 43-30 by halftime. The Storm didn’t get any closer in a 957-5 blowout loss. Leading scorer Julian Champagnie posted 24 points with eight boards, and Posh Alexander added 16 points of his own.
The Red Storm are 0-4 ATS in the last four overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five on Sunday. St. John’s is 0-4 ATS in their last four at home.
Meanwhile, the Rams are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 2-6 ATS in the last eight Sunday games. The over is 5-2 in Fordham’s last seven overall.
PICK: I’m going to stay with St. John’s here. The Red Storm are coming off a very tough matchup versus Kansas, but they didn’t play too badly despite the final score. St. John’s had a 43.6 percent mark from the field with 29 rebounds, 12 assists and 17 total turnovers in the blowout loss.
As for Fordham, they’ve been scoring pretty well lately with 68 or more points in each of their last four outings. I like this one to be a fairly high-scoring game as well, with St. John’s eking out a cover.
