The Indiana Hoosiers and the USC Trojans meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Galen Center in Los Angeles. Here’s a USC vs Indiana prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best USC vs Indiana pick.
Indiana Hoosiers Betting Preview
The Hoosiers were looking pretty good in early January, sitting on a 12-3 record over their first 15 outings. Indiana lost to only Minnesota, Louisville and Kentucky in that time. The Hoosiers would then fall in succession to Nebraska, Michigan State, Iowa and Michigan before picking it up again with wins over Rutgers, Purdue and UCLA in the next three. That gives Indiana a 15-7 run over the first 22 outings.
In the UCLA matchup on Saturday the Hoosiers were in the locker room with a 30-36 deficit. Indiana was able to claw their way back in the second half though, hitting a 46-40 advantage on the way to a double-overtime victory 98-97 on the road in the end. Tops in scoring was Nick Dorn with 26 points and seven boards. Lamar Wilkerson and Reed Bailey each had 24 points, combining for 14 rebounds and eight assists.
USC Trojans Betting Preview
Over on the USC side, they opened the season on a nice run as well. The Trojans only lost one of their first 13 games (versus Washington on December 6), then hit the skids on a 4-5 stretch during conference play in the next nine. The losses during that time were versus Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Northwestern and Iowa. over the first 22 outings of the year that would give the Trojans a 16-6 overall run.
Back on Saturday versus Rutgers, the Trojans exited the first half with a 10-point edge 40-30. USC was outscored 45-38 the rest of the way but managed to hang on for a much-needed win at home 78-75. Ezra Ausar led the team with his 21 points, seven rebounds and two assists while Jacob Cofie had 15 points with 10 rebounds for a double-double in the winning effort for the Trojans.
Why the USC Trojans will win

Why the Indiana Hoosiers will win

- Indiana has won the first half in each of its last six night games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
USC vs Indiana Prediction
I’ll stick with USC. You could argue this one either way, though; it should be a good matchup if both teams play to their capabilities. USC needs to sharpen up a bit after their win over Rutgers this past weekend; the Trojans had a nice 51 percent shooting from the field with 16 team assists and a 36-28 advantage on points in the paint, but also coughed up 16 turnovers along the way. It’s been a sketchy 2-3 run over the last five games for the Trojans against some tricky Big Ten teams, and two of those three losses were at home (Purdue and Northwestern).
As for Indiana, they had a great second half against a pretty evenly-matched UCLA team this past weekend. The Hoosiers shot 42.4 percent from the field but did even better from the line on 31-of-38 (81.6 percent) there. Indiana has won three straight games (with two on the road), scoring 72 or more points in all of them and 82 or more in two of them (buoyed by one double-overtime finish).
