Virginia Tech vs Miami Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/21/23

The Miami Hurricanes and the Virginia Tech Hokies meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Cassell Coliseum. Miami is sitting at 22-5 on the year so far. The Hurricanes beat Wake Forest in their last game. As for Virginia Tech, they’re 16-11 this season following a win over Pittsburgh on Saturday. Miami Hurricanes 

Miami posted a 15-4 run over their first 19 games of the year. The Hurricanes have kept up the strong play with a 7-1 stretch since, taking out Florida State, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Duke, Louisville, North Carolina and Wake Forest. 

In the Wake Forest matchup on Saturday, the Hurricanes were up 47-44 by halftime. Miami kept it rolling afterward with a 49-43 stretch in an eventual 96-87 win. Isaiah Wong was the top team scorer on 27 points with three assists. 

Virginia Tech Hokies 

Over on the Virginia Tech side, they hit a 12-8 stretch over their first 20 games. The Hokies have gone a shaky 4-3 since then with wins over Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh. The losses came to Miami, Boston College and Georgia Tech. 

Matched up against Pittsburgh in the Saturday game, the Hokies jumped out to a 41-30 edge going into the second half. Virginia Tech was outscored 42-38 from there but hung on for the 79-72 win. Grant Basile led the way on 22 points and two assists. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll take a stab on the Hokies here. Virginia Tech has been a mixed bag lately on this 4-3 stretch, but they’re still scoring very well with 70 or more points in eight straight games. These teams last met up on January 31 in a 92-83 win for Miami at BankUnited Center. The Hokies are 4-1 in their last five home games though, so I like them to hang around and power out the cover/win. Should be a pretty fun matchup overall, and considering Miami has 78 or more points in six straight we should see a fairly high total as well.
