The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Army Black Knights meet Saturday in college football action from Michie Stadium. Coastal Carolina is fresh off a meeting with Texas State. The 7-3 Chanticleers ended up taking an eight-point victory. As for Army, their last outing was against Holy Cross. In that one the Knights eked out a three-point win to move to 4-6 overall. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 

The Chanticleers managed to win six of their first nine games this year, posting an average of 30.0 points per game with 32 total touchdowns along the way. Coastal Carolina had a nice mix of run and pass in that time, averaging 278.9 yards per game through the air with 15 TDs (and eight picks) alongside 167.3 rush yards per game and 14 touchdowns. 

In their last matchup versus Texas State, Coastal Carolina was up 21-10 by halftime. The Chanticleers gave up 13 points in the fourth quarter but still held on for the win 31-23. QB Ethan Vasko led the charge on 145 yards and two scores. Reese White added 41 rush yards and a TD, while Sam Pinckney had 81 yards and a TD off six grabs.

Army has really struggled through the air with 122.3 yards per game, six touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Rush-wise the Knights are better with 193.8 yards per game and 15 scores. 

Matched up against Holy Cross back on Saturday, the Knights carried a 14-0 lead into the fourth quarter. Army was outscored 14-3 from there but held on for the win 17-14. Bryson Daily posted 79 yards on four completions, also leading the rush with 83 yards. Casey Reynolds managed one 69-yard touchdown catch to top the receivers.

I’m going to stay with the Chanticleers. Coastal Carolina posted a pretty solid all-around effort in their last matchup versus Texas State, holding the Bobcats to 280 total yards (81 passing) and 15 first downs. The Chanticleers did give up 199 rush yards however, which could hurt them a bit in this matchup. Considering Coastal Carolina has scored 27 or more points in all five games of this current win streak however, I think they’ll be okay. 

As for Army, they came away with a gutsy win over Holy Cross in their last outing. The offense was sketchy once again however, with 269 total yards (79 passing) and just 11 first downs. Army has scored much better over the last two games with 40 combined points, however I don’t think they’ll be able to keep pace if Coastal gets going.
