In this article we will formulate an Auburn vs Oklahoma prediction for this College Football game on Saturday, September 28th at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this week five matchup.

Auburn Tigers Betting Preview

The Auburn Tigers are 2-2 (0-1) this season after they lost to Arkansas by a score of 24-14 in their last game. Auburn tied the game at seven in the third quarter, but they could only score seven more points in the game for the loss. The Tigers out gained Arkansas by a total of 431-334, lost the turnover battle 5-2, and went 5-11 on third down in the game. Payton Thorne threw for 213 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, while Jarquez Hunter rushed for 67 yards on 12 carries.

Auburn has defeated Alabama A&M and New Mexico this year, but also lost to California in their second game by a score of 21-14. The Auburn offense has scored 36.5 points per game with 284 passing yards and 178 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 16.8 points against per game this season. The Tigers have gone 50% on third down and 2-5 on fourth down so far this season. Auburn has had turnover issues at the quarterback spot, so we could see Payton Thorne, Hank Brown, or both under center in this game. KeAndre Lambert-Smith has caught 12 passes for 338 yards and five scores this year.

Oklahoma Sooners Betting Preview

The Oklahoma Sooners are 3-1 (0-1) this year after they lost to Tennessee by a score of 25-15 last week. Oklahoma was tied at three in the first quarter, but they couldn’t find any more points until the fourth quarter in the loss. The Sooners were out gained by a total of 345-222, lost the turnover battle 3-2, and went 3-15 on third down in the game. Michael Hawkins Jr. threw for 132 yards and one touchdown, while Jaquaize Pettaway caught three passes for 79 yards.

Oklahoma had won their first three games against Temple, Houston, and Tulane, all of which were at home. The OU offense has scored 29 points per game with 171.3 passing yards and 128.3 rushing yards per game, while the defense has allowed 14.8 points against per game this season. The Sooners have gone 28.1% on third down and 4-6 on fourth down so far this season. Michael Hawkins Jr. will be taking over the starting quarterback duties, as Jackson Arnold was unable to get it done. Deion Burks has caught 26 passes for 201 yards and three scores this year.

Auburn vs Oklahoma Prediction

Both of these teams are coming off of losses last week, but the good news is that one of these teams will pick up a big conference win here. Auburn has really struggled to score points against the two power four opponents they have played so far this season and turnovers have been a huge issue. On the other side, Oklahoma is switching starting quarterbacks, but this will be a tough environment for Hawkins Jr. to work in. Both of these teams have big question marks at the quarterback position, but I have to give the edge to Auburn at home, especially with Hawkins Jr. under center for OU. Take Auburn and the points here.
