South Alabama was able to knock off Morgan State 38-21 in the first game. In the last game against Tulane, they were competitive, but their comeback ended up just short, and they lost 33-31. South Alabama finished the game, gaining 421 yards and they allowed Tulane to put up 406 yards. 231 yards for the Jaguars came through the air, and 190 of them came on the ground.
Under center for South Alabama was Bishop Davenport, and he completed 17 of his 24 passes for 231 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Kentrel Bullock also finished with 24 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Devin Voisin also caught eight passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns. The biggest issue in that game was getting out to a slow start. If they want any chance in this game, they can’t fall behind early.
What a Start for Auburn
There probably should be more talk about Auburn, because they have been quite impressive to start the season. In the first game of the season, Auburn was able to knock off Baylor 38-24. In the last game against Ball State, they looked even better, putting up 42 points, and they ended up winning by 39 points.
The only three points for Auburn were given up in the third quarter. At the end of the first quarter, they were up 14-0 and they never looked back on the way to the victory. Jackson Arnold is the real deal and he completed 24 of 28 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns. Jeremiah Cobb also finished with 11 carries for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Cam Coleman also caught seven passes for 77 yards. Auburn knows this is a game they should win in blowout fashion, so if they aren’t getting some of the young guys playing time late, this game will be a disappointment.
