The Florida State Seminoles and the Boston College Eagles meet Saturday in college football action from  BC Alumni Stadium. The Seminoles most recently took on Southern Miss last weekend. In that one Florida State powered out a blowout victory. As for Boston College, they played Holy Cross last Saturday. The Eagles managed to win by three in a thriller. Florida State Seminoles 

The Seminoles had a tricky matchup versus LSU in their first game of the year, but everything worked out in the end. Florida State was down 17-14 by the break, but outscored the Tigers 31-7 from there in a 45-24 win. QB Jordan Travis led the way on 342 yards and four scores. Keon Coleman went off for 122 yards and three scores off nine receptions as well. 

In last weekend’s matchup versus Southern Miss, the Seminoles didn’t have too many issues at all in a 66-13 win. Florida State scored double-digit points in every quarter, and Travis finished with 175 yards and two scores. Trey Benson was tops in rushing with 79 yards and three touchdowns.

Over on the Boston College side, they came out of the gate with a disappointing result against Northern Illinois. The Eagles rallied in the fourth to force overtime but eventually lost 27-24. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos finished with 138 yards, two TDs and a pick. Lewis Bond led the receivers on 40 yards and a score, while Castellanos added 67 rush yards and another TD. 

In game two versus Holy Cross, the Eagles had a shaky 24-21 lead going into the final quarter but managed to hang on for the win 31-28. Castellanos had 201 yards with two scores, and Kyle Robichaux had 94 yards and a score off 19 carries. Jaden Williams had 70 yards off two grabs to lead the receivers.

I’ll probably stick with the Seminoles here, but the line’s a little too thick to mess with. Florida State passed their first test of the year versus LSU, posting 494 yards of offense (359 passing), 7.5 yards per play, 22 first downs and just one turnover. The Seminoles forced two turnovers and held the Tigers to just 3-of-13 on third- and fourth-down tries in a nice overall effort. Last weekend versus Southern Miss, the Seminoles had complete control with 554 yards of offense (306 rushing), 26 first downs and zero turnovers. If there’s a complaint it’s the 4-of-12 rate on third-down tries, but everything worked out well otherwise. Florida State should keep rolling in game three.
