The Central Michigan Chippewas and the Bowling Green Falcons meet Saturday in college football action from Doyt Perry Stadium. Here’s a Bowling Green vs Central Michigan prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Bowling Green vs Central Michigan pick.

Central Michigan Chippewas Betting Preview

The Chippewas have six games in the books so far this year, and they’ve been able to carve out a 3-3 record in that time. Central Michigan opened things up with a tight 16-14 win over San Jose State, then lost in blowouts over the next two games versus Pittsburgh 45-17 and Michigan 63-3. The Chippewas were able to recover with consecutive wins in their next two outings though, beating Wagner 49-10 and Eastern Michigan 24-13. In the win over the Eagles, the Chippewas jumped out to a 21-6 lead by halftime and eventually bagged 448 total yards—including 308 rushing yards in a dominant effort.

In their latest outing versus the Akron Zips on October 4, the Chippewas were reeling with a 28-13 deficit heading into the final quarter. Central Michigan made a game of it with nine unanswered points from there but couldn’t make the comeback in a tough loss 28-22. QB Joey Labas went 12-of-21 for 134 yards in the defeat while Brock Townsend had eight carries for 108 yards rushing. Tops in receiving was Tyson Davis with three catches for 51 yards total.

Bowling Green Falcons Betting Preview

Over on the Falcons’ side, they only managed a couple of wins in their first five games of the season. Those came 26-7 over Lafayette and 23-13 versus Liberty. Otherwise Bowling Green fell versus Cincinnati, Louisville and Ohio during that stretch. In the loss to the Bobcats on September 27, the Falcons defense gave up points in every quarter and also surrendered 231 rushing yards alongside 6.9 yards per play. That unit did come up with three takeaways, but the four turnovers by the offense negated the effort.

In last weekend’s game versus Toledo, the Falcons were in trouble with a 14-0 deficit after the first quarter. Bowling Green gradually played themselves back into the game and finished off with a 14-2 run for a 28-23 comeback win. QB Lucian Anderson was 9-of-16 for 92 yards, two scores and a pick. Top rusher Chris McMillian carried 12 times for 22 yards and a score. Cameron Pettaway had two big touchdown catches, totaling 118 yards in the victory effort.

Bowling Green vs Central Michigan Prediction

I’ll probably stick with Bowling Green. The Falcons posted an ugly game against Toledo last weekend, but they got the job done. Bowling Green gained just 226 yards on offense with 10 first downs and 2-of-12 on third-down tries. The defense was strong on third downs (3-of-13) and came up with a couple takeaways but the team certainly benefited from a sloppy outing (13 penalties) by the Rockets. All of that said, a win is a win is a win. The Falcons had given up 75 combined points over the previous two games while posting just 37 themselves, so it was nice to get another W. Still, the offense needs to make an early statement this weekend by getting off to a good start.

As for Central Michigan, they got an extra week to rest and recover following a road loss versus Akron. In that one the Chippewas were great on the ground with 238 rush yards but also went a tepid 4-of-12 on third-down tries and had nine penalties for 65 yards. The defense had trouble getting off the field as well, giving up 9-of-15 on third-down conversions. CMU will likely lean on the rush once again here, but if Bowling Green is ready for it the Falcons should be fine.
