The Bowling Green Falcons and Miami-Ohio Redhawks clash Saturday in week 7 MAC college football from Doyt L. Perry Stadium.
The Miami-Ohio Redhawks will try to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their first six games of the year after a 27-24 win over Kent State last time out. Aveon Smith has thrown for 644 yards, 6 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 52.9% passing while Keyon Mozee has a team-high 353 rushing yards while Smith and Kevin Davis each have 200+ rushing yards this season. Mac Hippenhammer also has 22 catches for 314 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns this season. On defense, Ryan McWood has a team-high 53 total tackles while Caiden Woullard and Matthew Salopek each have a team-high 3 sacks.
The Bowling Green Falcons will try to rebound, looking to build some positive consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 5 games after a 38-7 loss to Buffalo last time out. Matt McDonald has thrown for 1,218 yards, 14 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 55.8% passing while Jaison Patterson has a team-high 191 rushing yards. Odieu Hillare has a team-high 269 receiving yards, 21 catches and 4 touchdowns while CJ Lewis has 262 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Four other Falcons have at least 100 receiving yards as well on the year. On defense, Chris Bacon has a team-high 42 total tackles including 30 solo tackles while Karl Brooks has a team-high 4.5 sacks as well this season.
Miami-Ohio is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 21-10 ATS in their last 31 conference games while the under is 12-2 in their last 14 games following an ATS win. Bowling Green is 10-26 ATS in their last 36 home games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games in October.
I get the case to be made for either side here, but I’m leaning towards the Redhawks here. Bowling Green has the better quarterback play here, but McDonald’s going up against the far better defense here and Bowling Green’s defense could make this inept Miami-Ohio offense look semi-capable here as the Redhawks have been getting better at finishing drives since conference play started. I just think that Miami-Ohio’s in a lot better place than Bowling Green right now, so give me the Redhawks in a lean.
