The Bowling Green Falcons and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets meet Saturday in college football action from Bobby Dodd Stadium. Bowling Green enters this one after a matchup versus Ohio last weekend. In that one the Falcons took a blowout loss. As for Georgia Tech, they’re coming off a game versus Wake Forest. The Yellow Jackets went on to win by two touchdowns. Bowling Green Falcons 

The Falcons kicked off their season on a 1-2 pace through their first three games. First came a 34-24 loss to Liberty in the opener, then Bowling Green got their first win over Eastern Illinois 38-15. Game three was an unenviable matchup versus Michigan in a 31-6 loss. The Falcons’ Camden Orth and Hayden Timosciek combined for just 124 yards and two picks in that one. 

Last weekend against Ohio, Bowling Green was down 38-0 going into the final quarter. A cosmetic touchdown capped off a 38-7 blowout defeat. QB Connor Bazelak posted 104 yards with two picks, and Terion Stewart led the rush on 107 yards and the touchdown. Odieu Hiliare caught five balls for 45 yards as well.

Over on the Yellow Jackets’ side, they were competitive in their opener matchup versus Louisville but ultimately came up on the losing side 39-34. Georgia Tech managed to blow out South Carolina State 48-13 in game two, then lost to a great Ole Miss team 48-23 the next weekend. The Jackets’ Haynes King threw for 307 yards and a pair of scores in the losing effort. 

In game four versus Wake Forest, Georgia Tech bounced back and returned to .500 with a 30-16 win. The Jackets were up 20-3 by halftime and cruised the rest of the way. King managed 222 yards with two TDs and one interception, while Jamal Haynes rushed 18 times for 95 yards and a score of his own.

I’ll stick with Georgia Tech here. The Yellow Jackets had an up-and-down outing versus a good Wake Forest team back on Saturday and I like them to keep it rolling. Georgia Tech had five takeaways (three picks) in the victory but also committed 14 penalties for 142 yards and gave up 29 first downs to the Deacons. Outside of the Ole Miss game, the Yellow Jackets have been quite competitive this year and I think they’ll get another victory versus Bowling Green. The Falcons have given up 31 or more points in three of four games so far, so Georgia Tech should have plenty of offensive opportunities.
