The Buffalo Bulls and the Kent State Golden Flashes meet Saturday in college football action from Dix Stadium. Here’s a Kent State vs Buffalo prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Kent State vs Buffalo pick.
Buffalo Bulls Betting Preview
Buffalo’s first game this year was against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on August 28. The Bulls went into the break with a 10-3 deficit, then pulled to within three points at the end of the third. Unfortunately Buffalo was outscored 10-0 from there however, and lost 23-10 in the end. QB Ta’Quan Roberson completed 12 of his 20 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown. Victor Snow caught the score among his five grabs for 67 yards. The team’s next-closest receiver was Jasaiah Gathings with three catches for 21 yards. Leading a pretty stagnant rush was Al-Jay Henderson with 11 carries for 25 yards.
In game two last weekend versus Saint Francis, Buffalo jumped out to a 24-0 lead by halftime and didn’t let up, scoring another three touchdowns on the way to a 45-6 victory. Roberson was 10-of-20 for 133 yards, one score and one pick while also rushing for two scores. Henderson had a great day with 24 carries for 98 yards and two touchdowns rushing. Snow was tops among receivers again, hauling in three passes for 67 yards and a TD of his own.
Kent State Golden Flashes Betting Preview
Over on the Kent State side, they had a manageable opening matchup versus Merrimack in their first game this year. The Flashes certainly made things interesting by allowing 11 points in the fourth quarter, but ended up prevailing 21-17 in the end. Dru DeShields threw for 118 yards and a TD on 6-of-10 passing, and Gavin Garcia topped the rushers with his 15 carries for 49 yards. Jahzae Kimbrough added seven totes for 39 yards, and Cade Wolford had a great day receiving with his two catches for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Kent State came off that victory into an unenviable road matchup versus the ranked Texas Tech. That game went about as well as you might think; a blowout loss for the Flash. Kent State coughed up a whopping 48 points in the first half alone during a blowout loss 62-14. The Flashes were better in the second half (a 14-14 score) but the game was long since over by then. DeShields was 7-of-15 for 116 yards and a TD (with another on the ground), while Gavin Garcia led the rush on 12 totes for 25 yards. Ardell Banks was the top receiver with his two catches for 49 yards overall.

Kent State vs Buffalo Prediction
I’m likely just going to stay with Buffalo. The Bulls are coming off a pretty easy win versus an overmatched St. Francis team. The defense was the star of the show, holding St. Francis to just 126 yards total (11 rushing), 2.5 yards per play, seven first downs and a 4-of-15 mark on third-down tries. On offense it was mostly rushing, as Buffalo bagged 370 yards on the ground (503 total) to help buoy 5.9 yards per play. The Bulls managed 32 first downs and were 11-of-17 on thirds. All of that said, it was against a struggling Red Flash squad so we should probably temper our expectations for this weekend. Buffalo has a good shot here if they play to their capabilities, though.
As for Kent State, they weren’t going to match up at all with Texas Tech, so it’s obviously not surprising that the game ended in a lopsided blowout. The Flashes gathered just 229 yards (165 passing), 10 first downs and a 2-of-14 success rate on third downs. This weekend’s matchup will likely go better, but I don’t think Kent State will cover.
