In this article we will formulate a Nebraska vs Akron prediction for this College Football game on Saturday, September 6th at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this week 2 matchup.

Nebraska Cornhuskers Betting Preview

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are 1-0 this season after they defeated Cincinnati by a score of 20-17 last week. Nebraska trailed 3-0 after the first quarter, but they did lead 13-3 at the half. The Cornhuskers led 13-10 after three quarters and 20-10 in the fourth, but Cincinnati made it 20-17 and had the ball in borderline field goal position, before throwing a pick to end the game. Nebraska out gained Cincinnati by a total of 356-271, went 10-18 on third down conversions, and won the turnover battle by a total of 2-0. Dylan Raiola went 33-42 for 243 yards and two touchdowns, while Emmett Johnson rushed 25 times for 108 yards and Nyziah Hunter caught six passes for 65 yards and a score in the game. The Nebraska defense failed to record a sack and they only had two tackles for loss in the victory.

Nebraska picked up a win against a Power-Four team to open the season, but they didn’t finish the game strong and nearly ended up in overtime. The Cornhuskers seem to always live in close games, but Raiola should be improving to the point of being good enough to put games away. Defensively, Nebraska was great against the pass, but did allow the Cincy QB to run wild at times.

Akron Zips Betting Preview

The Akron Zips are 0-1 this year after they lost to Wyoming by a score of 10-0 in their first game. Akron trailed just 3-0 at the half and they battled all game, but they allowed a touchdown in the fourth, which put the game out of reach. The Zips were out gained by a total of 426-228, went 3-15 on third down conversions, and tied the turnover battle at one in the game. Ben Finley went 16-38 for 139 yards and one interception, Marquese Williams rushed six times for 30 yards, and Sean Patrick caught four passes for 47 yards in the loss. The Akron defense was led by Shammond Cooper, who recorded 10 tackles, while the team had zero sacks and six tackles for loss.

Akron played pretty well on the defensive side of the football, as they limited points allowed, but they did allow over 400 total yards. The Zips didn’t have any success on offense and they will be looking for their first points of the season in this game. Akron has Ben Finley at quarterback, who I thought would be decent, but he had a rough first game.

Nebraska vs Akron Prediction

Nebraska picked up a quality win to start the season over Cincinnati, but they will look to play a complete game here, instead of fading in the fourth quarter. Akron will try to find some momentum after being shutout last week, but will face a very tough Nebraska defense that limited Cincinnati in the air. This is a big number to cover, but I have little faith in Akron scoring more than seven points, so I will back Nebraska here.
