The Purdue Boilermakers and the Penn State Nittany Lions meet Saturday in college football action from Beaver Stadium. Here’s a Penn State vs Purdue prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Penn State vs Purdue pick.
Purdue Boilermakers Betting Preview
Purdue opened up the year with a blowout win over Indiana State then hit the skids. The Boilermakers lost the next three outings versus Wake Forest, UCLA and Notre Dame, but then recovered with wins over Illinois and Minnesota. Purdue followed that up with a loss to Washington, giving the team a 3-4 overall record.
In the Washington game back on October 16, the Boilermakers traded punches in the first half and went into the break with a 24-17 deficit. Purdue added a field goal and another touchdown but it wasn’t enough in a 38-26 loss as the game came to an end. QB Ryan Browne was 21-of-41 for 273 yards, one TD and two picks. Antonio Harris added 65 rush yards with a score.
Penn State Nittany Lions Betting Preview
Over on the Penn State side, they were looking good after the first three games. The Lions took out Marshall, Temple and Buffalo in that trio but they’ve since lost four straight. Penn State has fallen to Wisconsin, Northwestern, USC and Michigan in that quartet, resulting in a 3-4 record in the books so far this season.
Matched up against Michigan on October 17, the Lions did the only scoring in the first half with field goal, but then gave up a pair of unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter. Penn State fought back from there but still ended up losing 21-18. QB Rocco Becht was 28-of-44 for 267 yards, one TD and two interceptions during the losing effort.

Penn State vs Purdue Prediction
I’ll stay with Penn State but you could call it either way. The Nittany Lions didn’t have the greatest game against a tricky Michigan team in their last outing, going just 4-of-12 on third downs with a trio of turnovers and just 65 rush yards. Still, Penn State was within three points of a victory. The Lions have been below 21 points in three installments of this current four-game losing streak.
As for Purdue, they collected five takeaways on defense in the loss to Washington but couldn’t capitalize with a win. The Boilermakers went a rough 5-of-14 on third downs and had a couple of turnovers themselves during the loss. The good news is that Purdue has 24 or more points in three straight games, a 2-1 run.
