The Indiana Hoosiers and the Purdue Boilermakers meet Saturday in college football action from Ross-Ade. Indiana comes into this one after a game versus Michigan State last weekend. In that one the 3-8 Hoosiers lost a close outcome. As for Purdue, they’re coming off a matchup versus Northwestern. The Boilermakers went on to lose by eight points, dropping to 3-8 overall. You're welcome to read our Indiana vs Purdue Prediction.

Indiana Hoosiers

The Hoosiers managed to win just three of their first 10 games this year and struggled to score during that time. Indiana averaged only 21.4 points per game total, with 213.0 yards per game, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions coming through the air. On the ground, the Hoosiers posted 111.3 yards per game, 12 TDs and 3.2 yards per carry in that stretch.

Matched up against Michigan State back on Saturday, the Hoosiers had the game tied 14-14 heading into the final quarter but fell short in a 24-21 loss. Indiana’s Brendan Sorsby put up 192 yards with two touchdowns, while Trent Howland rushed for 77 yards and one TD. Donaven McCulley added three catches for 72 yards.

  • The underdog has covered the spread in each of Indiana's last four games.

  • Each of Indiana's last six games as a road underdog have gone OVER the total points line.

Purdue Boilermakers

Over on the Purdue side, they only managed three wins in their first 10 outings also. The Boilermakers didn’t score much better with 23.7 points per game, getting 211.9 yards per game, 12 TDs and eight interceptions on passing plays. Purdue Boilermakers Team Facts

  • The home team has won each of Purdue's last four games.
  • Purdue has covered the spread in each of its last six games against Indiana.
  • Purdue has lost the first half in five of its last six games against conference opponents.
  • Four of Purdue's last five home games against non-AP-ranked teams have gone OVER the total points line.

I’ll probably lean toward Purdue here, but I’m probably also staying away. The Boilermakers are coming off a pretty rough offensive outing in their loss to Northwestern, posting 443 yards (140 passing), four turnovers and 6-of-16 on third-down tries. The defense wasn’t too bad though, all things considered, giving up 329 yards (99 rushing), 12 first downs and a 5-of-15 rate on third-down tries. Purdue has scored 15 or fewer points in five of their last six games, though.

As for Indiana, they probably should have beaten Michigan State last weekend after posting 402 total yards (210 rushing) and 23 first downs. The Hoosiers have now dropped six of their last seven games though, with 21 or fewer points in five of those seven. That said, we should have a pretty evenly matched game here, and a fun one to watch.
