The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the South Alabama Jaguars meet Saturday in college football action from Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile. Here’s a South Alabama vs Louisiana Tech prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best South Alabama vs LA Tech pick.

LA Tech Bulldogs Betting Preview

The Bulldogs didn’t start out the year so well, losing to LSU and Baylor in their first three games. That said, Louisiana Tech has been on a nice run since then, beating Army, Louisiana, LA-Monroe and Old Dominion in their last four outings. That gives the Bulldogs a 5-2 overall record in the first seven games so far this year.

In the Old Dominion matchup last weekend the Bulldogs scored two touchdowns in the first quarter on the way to a 17-0 lead by halftime. LA Tech kept the pressure up from there, notching their second consecutive shutout in the end 26-0. QB Blake Baker was 28-of-34 for 303 yards and a TD. Andrew Burnette led the rush with 20 carries for 63 yards.

South Alabama Jaguars Betting Preview

Over on the Jags’ side, they went a tepid 2-2 over their first four games. The losses in that time were versus Tulane and Kentucky with wins over SE Louisiana and Ohio otherwise. South Alabama would then beat LA-Monroe and Arkansas State before a loss to Marshall. In seven games so far that gives the team a 4-3 record in the books.

Matched up against Marshall back on October 20, the Jags exchanged a couple of field goals with the Herd for a 6-6 tie at the break. South Alabama managed to find the end zone in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough in a 20-13 loss. QB Jared Hollins was 12-of-33 for 148 yards and a pick. Keenan Phillips carried 16 times for 70 yards in the defeat.

South Alabama vs Louisiana Tech Prediction

I’ll stick with the Bulldogs I suppose. LA Tech is looking good right now after consecutive shutouts, and they hung a great effort on the Monarchs. The Bulldogs put up 24 first downs with 438 total yards and 11-of-19 on third-down tries in their latest victory. The defense gave up just 141 yards on the other side in a nice performance. LA Tech has won four straight games now, posting 24 or more points in each of those victories.

As for South Alabama, they went just 4-of-18 on third-down tries in their loss to Marshall while throwing for just 148 yards. The Jaguars had scored 108 combined points in the previous two outings, so the 13 points were quite a disappointment. This matchup’s not going to get any easier.
