The UTSA Roadrunners and the Texas Longhorns meet Saturday in college football action from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. Here’s a Texas vs UTSA prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Texas vs UTSA pick.
UTSA Roadrunners Betting Preview
This year the Roadrunners opened up with a game versus UTRGV. UTSA managed 24 points in the second quarter in that one and 14 more in the fourth during a 45-16 blowout win. QB Owen McCown was a nice 22-of-27 for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Tops in rushing was Will Henderson with 101 yards and a TD on nine carries and DJ Allen added three catches for 116 yards and a TD.
In last weekend’s Texas State matchup, the Roadrunners were up early after a first-quarter touchdown, but then gave up 17 unanswered points in the second. UTSA would rally for 24 second-half points and eventually posted a comeback win 31-26. McCown was 28-of-42 this time for 214 yards and a touchdown, and Henderson had 80 yards on 14 carries.
Texas Longhorns Betting Preview
Over on the Longhorns’ side, they opened up the season with a pretty easy matchup versus Texas State. Texas scored double-digit points in all four quarters (including 21 in the third) on the way to a 59-7 blowout victory. QB Arch Manning was 20-of-27 for 305 yards, four scores and a pick. Leading the receivers was Ryan Wingo on seven catches for 121 yards and a touchdown.
Matched up against Ohio State last weekend, the Longhorns were in major trouble heading into the fourth quarter with a 23-3 deficit. Texas miraculously scored three times in that final frame though, eking out a 24-23 victory that will be talked about for years to come. Manning was 23-of-37 for 195 yards, one TD and one pick. Daylan Smothers carried 21 times for 74 yards and two scores of his own.

Texas vs UTSA Prediction
I might take a stab on UTSA here. The Roadrunners posted a nice comeback effort versus Texas State last weekend, despite just 3-of-15 on third-down tries and 11 team penalties for 115 yards. The defense came up with three takeaways but also gave up 289 rushing yards to the Bobcats. In short, it wasn’t the prettiest win in the world and there’s plenty to clean up.
As for Texas, their win wasn’t exactly pretty either—but it was somewhat miraculous. The Longhorns had a couple of turnovers and gave up 278 yards through the air. The offense took quite a while to get going but eventually mustered 336 yards (195 passing). UTSA will represent a steep downgrade in opposition this week, so Texas may take their foot off the gas pedal due to the big win hangover.
